I was going to say the same thing as totallyrad. We run a JD 7710 with a 10' blade on it at work , and with enough snow , that snow plow plays with the tractor pretty good.

Tim,
That looks pretty but you can have it. It got down to 29* here last night and I was freezing my you know what off. I HATE cold weather. I would rather it be 100* than 40* myself (though I'm sure I'm in the minority). I can't function in cold weather. My hands quit working and I can not get warm no matter what. I tip my hat to you fighting fire in the cold like you guys have too. I've been frozen to a ladder before and I still hate it.

There is about 24" on the ground now, you guys up north with sleds are gonna get LOTS of use out of them this winter. I'm sick of it already.
As far as the little engine that could, you guy's got that right, the spreader holds around 800#'s of sand/salt, so that helps a lot. It doesn't have to many problems pushing snow unless it is real heavy and wet, then I just make smaller passes, it is the smartest money I ever spent.
Britt, yup, I love being frozen to the aerial, I have actually had to have guy's climb the stick and break the ice off me with an axe handle,(that explains the drian bamage), as far as being cold, the ice insulates you, you just can't move, supply line all frozen in 8-10 inch's of ice from all the water ,lots of fun. The best part is getting to the calls, I don't know about you, but I absolutely love having to carry every ground ladder on the piece a 1/4 mile down the street to get to the fire building because there is no room to shoehorn the truck down the street because of snow banks and cars parking where ever they want..
You Texas guy's will think this is funny, my mom and pop were up from Cleburne a few weeks ago, my mom bought round plastic saucer snow sleds for all the grandkids and brought them back to Texas on the plane, she said you can't find them out there? I was laughing so hard I almost passed out. I guess you guy's do get some snow every so often.
Merry Christmas, and happy and safe holidays to everyone.
And be DAM CAREFULL with those space heaters, we got a family homeless now and a little girl not doing so good because of one being to close to the bedding, nuff said.
