not true that you wont see a deer for years after purchasing a deer emulsifying bumper... I hit one a couple months after installing the bumper and there wasnt much left of it.... almost mashed another one tonight on the way home.....

I have a couple of those whistle things on my brush guard that were on the truck when I got it. My son keeps asking if they really do any good and I tell him "I haven't hit any deer yet".

I know they make a piercing whistle if you blow air into them with the air blower.

It's one of those things that if you take them off ...sure enough you will hit a deer. Did they work before?? go figure. haha

Alot of my friends that still drive OTR up here refuse to use those whistlers. The idea is that an animal normally used to highway traffic, will get scared and run out in front instead of just staying along the treeline. They also say that as soon as they get clogged with bugs, they're useless anyway as that'll happen within a couple miles down the highway in the spring / summer months.

Since I got the 2001 new, I've hardly seen a deer close enough to even warrant touching the brakes. Before then I've had many encounters with "wildlife" as I traveled back roads in the middle of the night. I put it down to the EXTREEM noise the 2001 makes, I DO have a bush bar though. Anyone else notice this with the 2001?
