Shut up your truck!

Today the girlfriend and I went out to Orland Park IL, she wanted to do some shopping and to eat dinner with her mom. No problem for me, I had nothing to do today so I drove her and I there in my truck. I got alot of funny looks from people while we were out. I even had one person yell at me because of my truck. We were backing out of a parking space at the mall when a girl in her early 20s and her mom walked right by the "business end" of my exhaust. She had this revolting look on her face and had the nerve to tell me to "Shut up your Truck." Both the girlfriend and I shot her dirty looks and didn't say anything but I stood on the throttle as we passed her. She looked very angery in my rearview mirror. No smoke but alot of noise! Kinda wish my truck was turned up for this kind of situation. I guess some people think everything revolves around them. Oh well I like my loud 24v. Even my girlfriend said she wish I had smarty or somekind of box on the truck just to smoke her a little.

That is Chicago for you. Now try living in there

Granted, there are good guys there but the snobs in the $50k Escalades are ruining our fun. First it is looks, then we try to show them who is boss (like you did), then they pass laws about the loud trucks, etc.

But I wish you had a Smarty to show them that not only are you loud and obnoxious, but loud, obnoxious and smoky

if they start passing laws, I guess ill have to put the 12v in storage until it's exempt from the smog or smoke test, lol, then when im 50-60 take it out and smoke everyone, lol.

I've had a couple people give me the slow down signal when im driving in residential areas because the sound makes it seem like im going really fast, thats when u put it in nuetral and blow some smoke to show it doesnt matter how fast im going.

I don't mind loud trucks either, but there are some people (mainly men *coughs* ) that for some odd reason feel the need to blow past me with my window rolled down. Seriously, I had this tonight happen when I was on my way getting diesel. A 3rd gen 2500 hauling some dirt bikes drove up next to me, slowed down enough to get behind me in the lane next to me (on my driver side), then procceded to stomp on the gas and nearly blow my ear drums with their exhaust. And it's always Dodges doing this to me (when I'm in my own Dodge!) and usually the 3rd gen trucks. *ends rant* Don't get me wrong, it's always nice seeing another Dodge owner. But sometimes the show of "I've got a loud truck", when it's almost midnight and I'm tired off my butt and trying to get home, gets really really old.

Eventually I want to get my own exhaust system set up.. Not to be used for handicapping people and their ear drums all the time though..

I had a gasser that was loud for a long time. Even I got tired of hearing after a while. Our 98 at work isn't that loud, but when the turbo wakes up, it will talk to you. Most of the dodges I drive you hear the motor over the exhaust.

There are quite a few diesels that pass my house. I must say out of all three engines, the cummins sounds the best.

I like when I'm driving gingerly down the street and they throw up their hands and cover their ears and glare at me. It's not THAT loud.

Hmmm .... must just be a city thing. I never even get an odd look out here in the sticks.

I'd rather hear a loud diesel than have to sit at the stop light and listen to Mr. Baggy-britches and his thump-thump stereo. God I hate that crap .

I'm beginning to think its a bigger city thing too. Alot of people out where I'm at have loud pickups or cars and there aren't too many complaints. I would also rather listen to a loud diesel over a thump thump stereo and a fart muffler.

You guys must be doing something wrong. I get the number one sign all the time. People love me and my truck. I even had a guy wave the number one sign out the sun roof as he went by.

People love to tromp on the gas to show me how cool their cars are. I'm quite impressed when a Lexus get rubber taking off. When I roll a little coal and rip the air with the straight pipe they really show me how cool I am with the "high number one". Some turn on their lights and flash them. I never can hear what they are saying but I know they are really cheering for me as they very vigorusly wave good old number one. I did slightly hear one guy say something like "you sound rich". He must have thought I was quite wealthy as he kept shouting and waving number one at me.

When I first brought my diesel up here, there were not many straight piped diesels up here and none that were manuals that I knew of so just about everyone liked it. When I threw the drag comp on it people though it was cool to see the smoke, until I put injectors on it. Some people got tired of it real quick, and my 96 didn't make things any better. But I like to hear my truck a lot better that the fart cans and motorcycles.

Now that's funny I'm going to guess he was making a less than complementary statement of your mothers character more so than your financial status.
