Thanks........2% over 500......not that much......try being confined to a wheel chair. Oh and stay out of the HC toilet stalls......they are the only ones designed to accept a wheel chair......believe me....when you got to go,you got to go........no fun waiting on some idiot that didn't use one of the other open stalls because they are smaller.

Annabelle, those are the 2002 guidelines, the numbers may have changed since then, I'm not sure. I know you've noticed, there always one available when you don't need one.

I know we have an ADA division we must go through when we get a permit. Then the state ( in TX ) will have an ADA inspector review your project after you receive your building final.

When I first started at the University I was on crutchs due to knee surgery. When I was getting my parking permit for the quarter the lady asked my if I needed a handicap permit. I was nice and said that I didn't need it. Someone else would need it more than I. It was knee surgery. No biggy in my book.
By the way, I park in the boondocks anyhow where nobody else is or at least I try too.

A few years ago in Washington DC individuals with Handicap Tags or Mirror Hangers didn't have to pay to park at curbside parking meters.
You could drive for blocks and EVERY car on the curb had a HC plate or hang tag.
DC changed the law so everyone had to feed the meters.........
Now you might see one car on a block with a HC tag or plate.
I guess it's a modern miracle that all those folks were magically healed when that law passed.

Just a plain ole guy
"so many people think that being FAT is a handicap!"
Agreed. And they all have to find them an electric cart at the Walmart. So many times I'd like to tell them they'd be a whole lot better off if they'd park them things and walk to the buffet instead of drive to it.
I know there are some that really need it, but just because you chose to get your stomach stapled to the country buffet shouldn't make you privileged.
I became friends with a really great guy in a wheel chair a long time ago and he gave me a real different respect for really handicapped folks and a disrespect for lazy slobs that abuse the handicapped facilities.

You don't have to be "visibly disable" to rate a handicapped parking placard. My boss has one due to limited lung capacity following lung cancer .... you'd never know it by watching him.
Just food for thought ....
