I agree....you done the right thing, glad you're OK, I'm sure it was scary. I would have needed to change my drawers! Seriously though in that situation it would be best if I was un armed. I don't think I could resist a pot shot at the asses that stole my wallet and almost give me a friggin' heart attack!....I hate thieves!

You did the right thing. Sometimes, you have to do what you can to stay alive, and that means that the bad guys get away. Glad that you are not hurt.

I'm sure that you have put a fraud alert on your name and your families name...

I had the same thing happen to me when I was in the navy. The guy put the gun to my head. I gave him EVERYTHING !! Of course everyone on my boat gave me the old " If that would have happend to me I would have....." Well, trying a Rambo move could possibly get you killed, and for what? a few credit cards and some cash? No thanks..I think you and I did the right thing because we are still here...

Another vote for the right thing. The only other thing I would add would be to have everything you carry in your wallet run over a copier so you can deal with canceling and replacing a bit easier.

Always, always, always de-escalate if you can. Putting distance or objects like cars between yourself and the perp is paramount

Under durress it is hard, but try to recall as much detail about the perp to help identify them later.

Shovel hit it all.

Glad you are OK.

You can't draw fast enough to overcome his advantage, so heroics would have most likely got you shot or worse.

Shovel, thanks for posting the USMC rules for a gunfight, however there is an addendum for the Navy boys, goes something like this:

Navy Rules to Gunfighting
1. Adopt an aggressive offshore posture.
2. Send in the Marines.
3. Drink cold beverages, eat hot food, enjoy the ship's air conditioning.

Dang DZLPWR,.....sorry to hear about what happened to you Sir! But as a retired L.E. Officer, let me tell you that you did the right thing in handling it like you did! I have seen so many of those same type situations fall apart very quickly where the victim(s) are either hurt or killed. Shovelhead has already given you and everyone here some great tips and advice.

Anyway, glad to hear you are alright Sir! I hope they catch the turds!

another one here to say you did the right thing. i was on the wrong end of a gun during a home invasion several years ago. when its a life or death situation, its not worth the risk in order to save a credit card, even if you had been armed. i know i replayed my situation 100,000 times in my head trying to figure out what i could have done differently or where i could have gotten the edge on the situation.....the bottom line is, you're safe, and he didn't do anything more than inconvenience you (canceling the credit cards)....well....that and ruin your day. but id rather wake up in a bad mood than not wake up at all.

sorry it happened to you, but glad you're ok.

You did the right thing by staying alive. It's too bad there's people out there who are so desperate for money. I think it's going to get worse too.

As rediculous as it sounds, you'd have likely been the one going to jail at that point.

If they're running away, the threat to your life is over at that point. Its not typically going to be legal to shoot them in the back as they're running away.
