Rotted structure, severely cracked Gel Coat, and no one wanted it, or had time to invest in it. It was my buddies boat and asked me to scrap it.... so I did.

I have a milwaukee sawzall from the mid 80's that never skips a beat. the trailer took a while as I only had used metal blades, but eventually it gave in as well..

Since the structure / gelcoat was done, it cut apart with little resistance... other than the water that was in the hull. I had to let that out with a really sharp iron poker rod as the splashback was too much...

If what I have seen on Alaska State Troopers is even 50% true, around 'there' it would have been used for another 5 fishing seasons, then it would have been used as a sled behind a quad or snow machine for another 5 years and finally it would have been turned upside down and used as a home in the bush until the end of time.

Don't get me wrong, I support using things as long as possible so we don't overwhelm the landfills etc. Don't believe me, just check my yard on Google satellite view...

Dang, I forgot about dragging it around with a bunch of drunks in it prior to using it as target practice.

All Rotted.

The trailer was last moved back in 2007. It was a steel trailer that was never galvanized, and in the salt air environment that he lives in, it was toast. When I pulled the trailer apart (cut it up, that is), the leafs in the springs were so rotted, they fell out of their spring packs....

I sold the motor, as it was still in good condition...

I live on the coast where Hurricane Sandy hit. NJ has a few fresh water lakes as well, but primarily it's along the shore that they're used. The house I did that boat disassembly in was devastated by sandy. It's partially gutted, but now we have to finish the process by finish gutting and reworking some rooms, rewiring the entire house including a new service, install all new HVAC ducts, have the house treated for mold, re-insulate, drywall, paint, rip out the underlayment, and replace (floors) and all new trim.

So far, it's still just a shell... but at least we have a dumpster there. THis house is a buddy of mine who had flood insurance. It's estimated that to return the house back to what it was (or better) will take about $40k at a bare minimum, not including new appliances. The insurance gave him $12k and said.... have a nice day... They said due to depreciation, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla.... He figured that he's paid into the insurance in premiums alone about $30k. He's going to have to raise the house 13 feet above street grade to get it to comply with the new FEMA maps, otherwise his flood will be $20k + a year.

Totally screwed.... and he would have been better off putting the insurance money in a bank account. This is what it looked like a few days after the storm
