Question for the Hot Rod builders out there, wiring harness?
I've been helping my neighbor with his 49 ****** Jeepster, I helped him pull the engine and trans out today. 1965 ford 289/C4 out of a mustang. He's getting the trans rebuilt and is most likely going to put a 302 back in.
At some point in this project he's going to need a new wiring harness, someone previously molested it already and is not worth salvaging. What we're looking for is some options. We found a harness kit that looks very promising, but I don't want to sell him short as I'm going to be doing most of the wiring anyway.
Thanks,
Mike

Talk to painless wiring, as long as your not running any electronics on the engine or transmission or much aftermarket lights, an off the shelf wiring harness should get you there.

My neighbor is looking at Ron Francis wiring, the stuff looks good, but I always like to have other opinions.
Lets just say that its about 4 bolts short of becoming a frame off restore. Right now there is no interior to speak of. Needs new floor pans welded in. He's got a new independent front end with rack and pinion steering, new steering column, plus things that haven't been done yet.
He's also looking for an electric solution to the vacuum powered wipers (cable operated).

I was looking at a painless harness for my car too, but it costs an arm and a leg! BTW, my '66 dodge coronet 500 with a stock 60amp alternator DID NOT like me installing a 100amp alternator!!!! Do you smell burning plastic???

I'll jump on too with the Painless wiring!! Yeah they cost a pretty penny but they are so straight forward and simple to install.....the only pain in the butt part is running all of the wire but you'll have that with any wiring kit. I'd rather pay a little more money if it saves me hours and hours worth of HEADACHES
