Pressure washer for cow poop
I need to buy a pressure washer for cleaning out an aluminum stock/cattle trailer (Wilson). I have never owned a pressure washer much less used one to clean a trailer. I'm looking for suggestions on power and pressure ratings, hopefully from someone who has done this 'cause that manure is HARD to get off. Thanks.

I know where you're coming from, that stuff is difficult. At the ranch I work for, we have a combination water heater / pressure washer unit. It operates at 6,000 psi, combine that with almost boiling water and months old manure is no match. Takes about an hour to completely clean our 40 ft stock trailer.

just dont get one that offers a high pressure with a small motor. You need 1 HP for every 1500 PSI at 1 GPM as a rule of thumb. If the numbers dont add up, dont get it.

6000 psi. Good Gawd. You could cut trees down with that. It would be like a light sabre! Be fun to blast wasp nests and carpenter bees with 6000 psi. You could probably trench in utility cables with that thing.

Whatever you end up with, you do realize that most of what you are blasting off the trailer will land on you.
Been there done that, and you can't even say "at least it's fresh".

Wear a rain-suit, rubber-boots, and a plastic bag over your head and duck-taped around your neck.
Also, duck-tape the tops of the boots to the legs of the rain suit.
Be sure and don't do this in the dark of the moon in any month with an R in it, especially if you are allergic to eggs.

I got an 11 HP 3500 PSI cleaner. The Briggs is an IC with iron sleeve so it is heavy duty. The unloader screwed up on the pump twice so I just took it off and plugged the hole. Is is probably close to 4500 PSI now and it will cut the wood on the deck if you hold it still wide open and will peel the paint right off the aluminum siding too. I had a ring gear and starter installed on it a while back when I hurt my neck. I just used a cheap pair of jumperd wired in tohough a Ford starter solenoid to start it. Works real well.

get a steam cleaner. ive used one up at school and it heats the water really hot and then sprays it really hard. dont know the specs on it, but it will cut grease like nothing else! expensive, but very very worth it. Look them up, and see the specs.
