Why I hate IFS and why it is'nt a good idea to stick a square cab and the H logo on what is basically an overgrown yukon chassis.
They went to the expense to get alison transmisions for the 3/4 and 1 ton why not get some real front axles. I mean ESP on what is marketed as their most capable offroad performer.
If GM would bring back a live front axle I might consider a GM pickup otherwise .

Re:Pop goes the tie rod
Had a 2000 Z-71 54,000 something miles 5.3 liter quad cab. :-[
Piece of possum crap. Used 4x4 about 20 times or so. (1) I kept hearing this noise sounded like front axle IFS kinda growled, (2) It begin to leak oil out of frontend where axle goes into the 3rd member in the front. (3) Had a knock developed at about 23,000 miles dealership said this is normal. Just like they all say (4) Changed oil 1 day seen what appeared to be silver glitter in oil now mine you i'm using Mobil1. (5) Next oil change find big hunk of metal on the end of the drain plug. Tell wifey time to get a diesel only one I know of is a cummins which is in the Dodge. Of course I know of another which I read on another site did'nt tickle my fancy. It (chevy) had rattles and squeeks I did'nt care for wouldn't buy another. Just my plug $.05 worth.
