So why is it that GM just killed off the brands rather than selling them and generating a little bit of revenue from them?

They killed pontiac and olds the same way chrysler killed the "powerwagon" back in the late '70's early 80's....

They'll bring it back some day.....


besides, I can hear the furor already if they started manufacturing some inferior econobox over in china named "pontiac Trans AM"

Stupid that they killed Pontiac instead of Buick.

Gee, we have Cadillac and Buick making upscale luxury cars and only Pontiac building young/exciting cars.......so lets kill Pontiac.

But nobody's buying Pontiacs right now. The blue-hairs all buy Buicks and Caddys.

It's another example of thinking only of how to maximize the next quarter's profits instead of the long term implications of your decisions.

why buy a pontiac when you can get a subaru or honda and have a better car that will last 100K more miles.

All I can say is I hope they keep the platforms. That G8 GXP was going to be a pretty hot 4 door by the sound of it.

Yeah I'm gonna miss that G8! But the reality is pontiac died when they started putting 500 lbs of plastic ground effects on them in the 80's and 90's.... You can't come back from that.




Cadillac makes the most profit per vehicle and Buick is the best seller.


Of course Buicks only sell well overseas .




Next up they need to get rid of Chevy trucks if they really want me to think they are trying.
