polaris sportsman 700

any of you guys use one ................... what'd you think of it

I applied for the financing for one today, supposed to stop in tuesday to look at it

is 8500 cdn a good price ????

I plan to use it as a work machine, haul wood, trail riding, mudding ect....

I was all set on an suzuki eiger 400 (my dad's friend has always loved his king quad 300) but then I saw this 700 and it seems pretty sweet it has hi & low range also (rated to tow 1500lbs)

I'm also thinking the 700 may be way more than I need ..... but it's so cool( it'll lift the front wheels when you crack the throttle & it goes 80mph)

I've also been looking at the polaris ATP 500, Artic cat TBX 500 and bombardier traxter XL 500 (the ones with boxes on the rear)

I don't know ........I'll have to do some more looking when I go out ......... maybe I should just stick with my 87 yamaha trimoto 200e trike

my dad has a 500 and a 700 and id much rather ride the 700. not only does it have more power but its more of a firmer feel to it. the 700 has close to 6000 miles on it without a problem. the 700 will bury the speedometer (it goes to 60 MPH) im pretty sure it will do close to 70-75 MPH Go for the 700, thats what i'll be getting soon

I had a '99 Sportsman 500 and loved every minute of it. But when the 700 came out I had to have one (limited edition). I had the first one in southern UT. Needless to say I paid MSRP for it but well worth it. It gets used on the farm, hunting, and playing. It has never let me down. I'd say go for it and you won't regret it. I put a ramsey 2500lb. winch with a wireless remote on it, via reciever hitch so I can winch from the front or back. It goes anywhere

If your not going to be going deep mud bogging all the time I would look at the Prarie 700 twin. Straight axles are great for farm work and with a good set of tires you will be quite happy with it I am sure. IMO

If you really want a Polaris I would suggest the 500 as it is a proven engine. The one thing Polaris did do is remove all the grease fittings on there quads except for 3 which was a very bad idea, I know many ffriends that have had alot of bushing and bearing failures due to this and will not be buying another Polaris.. and these are die hard Polaris fans!!!

I own two myself but if I was out looking for a new quad the Kawasaki would be my first choice as I did own a Prarie 400 and it was bullet proof.

Good Luck my friend and have fun shopping.

I'll second the Prairie 700. It's a 4X4 sport quad. Most powerful utility out there.

I'll third on the Prairie.....I've got a 650 Prairie and a 500 sportsman. The sportsman is a tank---It drives heavy, I beat it to death, and I love it. The Prairie is everything the sportsman is, yet it doesn't drive like a tank, it has better speed, power, and feels 300 lbs lighter.

Myself, I'm getting the urge to look at one of the new Yamaha Rhinos
