i will state that religion isnt innocent
religous leaders stick there nose where it doesnt belong
like trying to get harry potter and lord of the rings banned
i know this will probly get me flamed but always look at both sides of the story i live in the "bible belt" we have a big thing going here about our town serving liquor by the drink
the vote passed but the religous people are takeing it to court trying to get it thrown out just because they dont like it doesnt mean they should make the whole economey of the town suffer especially when they are mostly hippocrits here and really just dont want to be seen buying it in there town
i have seen some preachers buying it at the clostest liquor stores
but i guess what im saying is there is always 2 sides to every story
around here religion is almost forced on people and if you dont go to church you are looked upon as an outsider and a bad person just my .02

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Playing the devils advocate, I have a couple of questions.
America (the great?) was founded on certain principles that have worked extremely well to make the nation what it was a few years ago. Now that 'others' are coming into the country and including certain resident do-gooders etc, America is on a steeper and steeper downward spiral.
The question is; should America be as tolerant as it is to all groups, faiths etc? Or should there be a hard and fast rule the immigrants adapt to America and not the other way around? Should organisations like the ACLU be allowed to destroy your country?

I would just be happy if we had a national language. It annoys the hair right off my head everytime one of those phone help lines say for english press 1, por espanol..... . Seem logical to me but just pick one and we'll all learn it.

OK, it must be the cold weather, but I agree with Herb on both points.
If you're moving here, you better speak English because that's what we speak. When I travel to another country, I make no expectation that everyone should speak English (and that's just a quick trip there). I'd never think of moving somewhere I didn't speak the language and expect everyone to adapt to me. I don't care how many Americans came with me...
