You need to find a vet like Jake's. She comes to us and charges less than his original vet. Has an RV set up as a portable clinic complete with digital radiology and an operating room.

Evening all. Made a little more progress on the processor today. Got the cab built and the valves installed. Now all I have to do is get it all plumbed up... that oughta take a coupla weeks at the rate I go.

Uh Oh. Now you got me worried.
If you get to Muskogee say hi to Merle Haggard for me.
I met him in Colusa California. He may remember me because there were free drinks and I think I may have made an impression.
I started off by thinking he was Willie Nelson but it got better after that. I think.

The family crisis IS the A/C problem, right? I mean, no one is sick or dying are they?

Morning all.

Today is Saturday, August 31. It's hard to believe that summer is technically over already. It seems like it was just last week that we started June and here it is Labor Day Weekend.

1852 - The first pre-stamped envelopes were created with legislation of the U.S. Congress.

1887 - The kinetoscope was patented by Thomas Edison. The device was used to produce moving pictures.

1920 - The first news program to be broadcast on radio was aired. The station was 8MK in Detroit, MI.

1935 - The act of exporting U.S. arms to belligerents was prohibited by an act signed by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

1964 - California officially became the most populated state in America.

1965 - The Department of Housing and Urban Development was created by the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate.

1990 - East and West Germany signed a treaty that meant the harmonizing of political and legal systems.

1991 - Uzbekistan and Kirghiziz declared their independence from the Soviet Union. They were the 9th and 10th republics to announce their plans to secede.

1991 - In a "Solidarity Day" protest hundreds of thousands of union members marched in Washington, DC.

1994 - Russia officially ended its military presence in the former East Germany and the Baltics after a half-century.

1998 - A ballistic missile was fired over Japan by North Korea. The missile landed in stages in the waters around Japan. There was no known target.

1998 - "Titanic" became the first movie in North America to earn more than $600 million.

Today's thought:

C0ffee & ph00 are ready.

Don't forget to TOB&F today. Things are going well for his grandaughter but they still need our thoughts and prayers!

Wow! FiverBob must have gotten chased into his pool by fruit eating bats. Normally on a Saturday he is one of the first to post because he gets up crazy early.

Good afternoon all y'all, DW and I are already working hard at our chores on our 'To Do' lists. The wind shredded our old pool cover last night so a new one has been installed. The only hdrant I have for water outside siezed up a couple of weeks back so a new one is now installed. This crimp plumbing in modern houses is a bit of a pain. Our house was plumbed with PVC but that is no longer allowed so every time I do something new I have to do a PVC to PEX conversion. I am so glad I bought the crimper so I don't have to run in to the city to rent one at Home Depot for every plumbing job. That is a 1 hour round trip. The next job is to put the bushwhacker blade on the brushcutter and cut down a bunch of nast weeds that got ahead of what I can cut with the string trimmer head. After that it is time to pull the blankets our of the barn and get them aired out. There are about 20 of them and they are used to protect plants in the garden when we get light frosts at night. I epect the first frost in the next week

It is good to see people posting these days who haven't posted in a while. I haven't seen Madhat in the breakroom in months but I know he is around the board. Did one of us say something to offend him?

Have a fun long weekend everyone. I have Tuesday off as well so I hope to get a huge bight taken out of the 'To Do' list that has to get done before the frosts start killing stuff off. Some day soon I need to spray the hay fields with 2-4,D. That is a whole day job and it needs to be calm (no wind) and there shouldn't be rain in the forecast for 48 hours. There is no rain in our forecast but it is quite windy here today, so, no spraying.

Play safe all y'all, back atcha later.

Glad you are back in your home state Fronty, hopefully that a good reason and not unemployment.....

Chaikwa, nope! finally got this vet convinced that I am not a stupid pet owner. went from 142.00 bill down to 13.00. actually had lost a 32 year employee because she told the vet this is not a big city, stop charging big city prices and multiple tests. vet is phillipino from Phili....

be careful on your log processor build. do your typical **** labeling for your lines. seriously, all the best to you, doing a huge undertaking.

Barkkkkk, I learned real quick to 'scruff' this 8 pound warrior cat. support the hind end and move quick. fortunately the depo shot is only every two to three months. very healthy cat, just not adjusting well to human made cat food. did you notice there is never a mouse flavor.......?
I should go into business.
T raddy!, man that just stinks to have that happen. tell the home residents that the internet is a free electronics library, troubleshoot it yerself!
and yah, on the POP. some days, man, ....some days.

treating myself right- gonna have shrimp and scallop shishkabobs on the grill
with Arnold Palmer. hehehehe the drink, not the person.

Gee, sounds like our house. Woke up about 5am to get going on my ToDo List and suddenly realized I was very warm. Checked thermo - - set way lower than the actual temp. Got ladder, went in closet and up to the air handler - - overflow pan is full and auto shutoff did its thing. So, that started my day. I was so proud of all the stuff I accomplished this week and knew I could tackle some of those little ones that drive you nuts today. OH YEH!!!! FORGET IT, BIG BOY. ................................;Finally got to the trap only to find it is fine. Had to pull the air handler apart - - a little piece of insulation had plugged up the drain line inside the handler - - filled the overflow. All this was found after having to give up on the old shop vac and run and buy a new one - - yep, didn't need it - - well, yes I did - - the old "good expensive one that doesn't work right anymore because it was my fathers it is soooo old" is now in the trash. Sis-in-law called and her post light (required in the neighborhood) is not working, so got parts for that while off shopping, fixed that on the way home - - got the AC finally running about 2pm. Soooooo much for all the other "little" stuff I was going to do today.

Grabbing a ph00 and go do something I WANT to do instead of HAVE to do. Ya'll have a great day. ...................

Wish we had PEX instead of copper. If we ever have a major freeze up we have a lot of lines to split.

Had a friend who's cat had to take a pill two times a day. They tried every possible method.
Doing the burrito wrap might keep you from getting scratched (once you finally got it wrapped) but it would still bite and spit.
It was a two person job and really fun to watch. I like cats ok but if it was my cat I would have dug a nice home for it.

My sisters next door neighbor still has a swamp cooler from the 50's. Forgot about how musty those things could smell if they weren't cleaned often.

My a/c will eat a capacitor about every 3-4 years. That's OK, they sacrifice themselves and save the system typically. This time it was a little different. I checked the capacitor and it was blown, located and installed the replacement, flipped the switch and nothing. The contact points were free and closing as they should but still no power. The 60 amp breaker at the unit hadn't tripped so I pulled the cover off and discovered a wire I initially thought was burnt in two. On further inspection it had actually just gotten hot enough to melt the insulation. I checked the main panel and the 40 amp breaker there was tripped. Hmmmm.... a 60 at the unit and a 40 in the main panel plus wires that had started to melt. Now I'm going to have to locate the info for the a/c unit and find out what size wire and breaker should actually be there. I suspect the wire from the main panel to the breaker at the unit is not properly sized. Oh well, it's just more work.

I am not a cat person. but we have an agreement. If I act like momma kitty, she will not kill me. She grabbed a poor lil dauschund from the tenant's friend the other night. funny to see ...but I had to act sorry.

We never had shrews when our kids cats were still alive (the cats we got stuck with when the kids grew up).

The house we are currently in was wired by Mickey Mouse (no, not me).
The outside plug in for freeze plug heaters had 10G wire going to the outlet and a 30Amp breaker.
It had 14G wire going to the breaker.
The 10G ended at an outlet in the basement and the 14G started from there.
