I am fairly certain that the shrews used hornets to chase me the other day because I never found the rest of the sandwich I was eating.
Yet another sunny day. After weeks of rain this is a treat. BBQ tonight!

Good thing I got the care pkg from Bark. How did you get shrew fur in my size?
At first I thought it was a banana hammock but it turned out to be one knee Cap warmer. hmmmm
I'm assured the pump is headed my way overnight for delivery tomorrow or Weds.?
its only 100 here with the humidity. Should be fun working on the truck.

Hi gang -- long hard day of work, but the lanai is officially completed. And,, in the past few days 84 bags of mulch laid, new plantings and some moved, trimming, downspouts repaired, sprinkler system repaired. I am shot. Was cooler today and that was welcome.
Hey boy, taint funny. It has been a tough few months. The last three were quite close and I miss them. Makes you stop and think when your friends who are many years younger than you are biting the dust - - my bucket is still full of stuff we want to do that is not done. I guess it is the old story - - one day at a time. Keep your mind on the several important things in your life and concentrate on maximizing those.

Bobby, very sorry for your losses and the recent illness for wee grand daughter.
I've been hit by a few of those losses lately. Very close friends older younger and even smarter if you can believe that have passed. sad
The news seems worse today. Poor Yosemite.
Syria? omg
Why do I get the feeling of impending doom in times like this?
I'll keep my chins up and continue to forge ahead.
I changed my fur knee warmer into a shrewly beautiful cup holder.

Yeah, sometimes I really regret watching the news. It can get depressing.
Try this... Run around outside wearing just your cup holder. I promise you it will change your outlook immensely.
In fact, after awhile you will find other people running after you.
It will help kill the time.

Hey Fronty!! was thinkin' about ya, missed your engineering observations on some past posts. so we can assume you followed through on some employment thoughts , hope everything worked out the way you hoped or at least is in the right direction. everyone needs a challenge after 40. lol
Scotty, glad you got the mechanic shrews Bark sent. have plenty of coffee for them, or else they will end up as state employees and just stand around.
awesome surprise as my son unexpectedly showed up, we talked all afternoon and had a great dinner/movie discussion. all else went on hold, so worth it! proud of my son.

I haven't hit 40 yet...
Yeah, I followed thru on an employment opportunity. Jumped ship from one oil services company at the manufacturing facility to another at their corporate R&D office.

I put the shrew crew on the treadmill while I worked out. They are ready for the install and have signed off on the state employee gravy train cuz they don't like gravy or trains. They are partial to Bark of all kinds and especially Alaskan Bark.
I'm 51 and have a couple offers/contracts to consider for this fall. I'm attempting to tailor the contracts to finish out in good shape for retirement. One plan is 5 yrs the other is 10. I'll keep working just at something different after I get one of these contracts in place and honored.
Time to face the cops here after my stroll around the property several times wearing just my Shrew cap.

Haven't been able to get online in a few days. Had to call Verizon to get my internet turned back on today after paying my Bill Wednesday, and getting shut off on Thursday. You wouldn't think that Straight Talk, and Verizon, providing similar services, that quality and availability of Customer Service would be inversely proportional to the difference is price.
I delivered to the wally's-mart warehouse in Terrel, TX, 2 days before Christmas 2002. Walked into the guard house in t-shirt and shorts, they had the heat blasting and were wearing carhartts from head to toe.
Tallguy- we use a couple pieces of old driveshaft- about 4-5 feet long- guide the wire onto the roller with them- lots faster- and tons safer- than trying to guide it by hand. Had to do some welding on ours last week. Broke the shaft that the reel mounts to, trying to peel a roll of barb wire off. Had to weld it back together and then straighten and brace part of it so it wouldn't bend again. Our wire winder has a ball valve on the supply line for shutting it off.
My uncle ran out of string one year, and my cousin's new bicycle brake cable was sitting in the shop waiting to be put on her bike. He went most of the way around the fence before he had to put a new piece on.
Got the manifold back on the Dodge Saturday. Got too hot out and the lack of a proper work bench got to my back while putting the left rotor on the hub. Maybe get it done Sunday now.
Turns out my manifold wasn't leaking. Number 3 injector was loose. Fired it up once I got it buttoned up, and could see the gasses squirting out past the injector. First time I looked at it cold. 20 minutes and about $40 less would have fixed it, but at least I don't have to worry about that stuff now. Since the brass washer looked good I just dropped it all back in the hole and torqued it down proper.
Went to work an hour early this morning. Spent and hour and a half blowing and washing out the radiator on the 4840. No wonder it would overheat just pulling the batwing down the road last year. It was plugged pretty good. Hit the seat at 8, got out at quarter after 5, and the only break the tractor- and my butt- got all day was running up to Lavern's to pump up the tire that went flat. Got about 10 miles of roadside mowed, most of it taking 2 passes. And one pass being on a pretty steep bank. Steep, as in I'm sitting on the seat, kinda, looking straight down at the top of the outside dual.
Was still 78 degrees at 530. Too warm to start the day.
Farming is tough work, but I can deal with aches and pains and physical stress a lot easier than mental stress.
We just got home from Cabela's. I was commenting on the customers in front of us that now is a good time to buy before prices go up as they were buying Carhartts and winter weather gear. DH agreed then backtracked, "Wait, we don't need them where we're going now". We joked the FL cold weather gear is probably closed toe shoes and jeans, right?

And hurts like heck when you hit your foot while wearing T-shoes

Hope some of it was for your long term happiness. As we have talked about before, it sucks to look back and discover you spent 20 years working at a job you didn't like.
That's one heck of a good idea. Did you have to put a flared end on it for barbed wire or does it work ok without it.
Be careful running around out there. While comfortable, shrew cup holders do not provide much protection against tasers.

Good mornink all you shrew lovers. Amazing all the ingenious things certain members can think of to mess up the sweet and gentle life of a shrew.......................
Put on the coffee and the ph00 - - grabbing mine and gone - - in a hurry. Off to the doc. Seems this Florida sun has done a number on my neck and he is going to do the Morh's treatment to a cancer spot. I hope that doesn't mean there will be "more" treatments to come. Gotta be more respectful of that big bright thing in the sky and don protective gear and use more goo.

Mornin'.
It's Tuesday, August 27th.
1859 - The first oil well was successfully drilled in the U.S. by Colonel Edwin L. Drake near Titusville, PA.
1894 - The Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act was passed by the U.S. Congress. The provision within for a graduated income tax was later struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.
1928 - The Kellogg-Briand Pact was signed by 15 countries in Paris. Later, 47 other nations would sign the pact.
1939 - **** Germany demanded the Polish corridor and Danzig.
1945 - American troops landed in Japan after the surrender of the Japanese government at the end of World War II.
1962 - Mariner 2 was launched by the United States. In December of the same year the spacecraft flew past Venus. It was the first space probe to reach the vicinity of another planet.
1972 - North Vietnam's major port at Haiphong saw the first bombings from U.S. warplanes.
1981 - Work began on recovering a safe from the Andrea Doria. The Andrea Doria was a luxury liner that had sank in 1956 in the waters off of Massachusetts.
1984 - U.S. President Ronald Reagan announced that the first citizen to go into space would be a teacher. The teacher that was eventually chosen was Christa McAuliffe. She died in the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986.
1989 - The first U.S. commercial satellite rocket was launched. A British communications satellite was onboard.
1999 - The final crew of the Russian space station Mir departed the station to return to Earth. Russia was forced to abandon Mir for financial reasons.
2001 - Work began on the future site of a World War II memorial on the U.S. capital's historic national Mall. The site is between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
Today's thought:
When I hear somebody sigh, 'Life is hard,' I am always tempted to ask, 'Compared to what?'
C0ffee & ph00 are ready.
Don't waste the day!
T.O.B. & F.!
