It does look like a "small" drop below him - - - ouch. Scared me just seeing the picture. I remember too many of those types of bridges.

He was just being polite and making room for the other guy to pass.
By the looks of the tire tracks he was braking quick hard when he hit. Would love to know the real reason he was so far over with no sign of correction.

driving too fast... unfortunatly we don't see what is behind the 'burb (bet it's a corner) I also see skid marks on the bridge deck. I came upon a toyota that had rolled on it's roof. She was driving. they had come up over the crest of a hill and just over the hill was a corner. the skid marks went in a strait line right off the road. they did a slow roll onto the roof into the ditch. That was another case of a few more feet down the road and it would have been a bigger disaster.

Probably some young engineer out from the city. Those boneheads always seem to think they can go highway speeds on dry gravel without thinking you actually have to share the road, typically with larger equipment. Good idea to head for the drink . "What, only one lane??"

Can't you see it, its not the drivers fault. The concrete barrier does not meet up with the bridge. At least that's what the driver will say when he sues the city.
