OK Guys, need so advice
I need some advice and thought you guys might help. I've been in the pulp and paper profession in production for 26 yrs. I have tried a couple of times in the past to get in maint dept but to no avail. They have posted a milright job, and I called the Personel Director today. He told me to call and put my name on the list, and they would talk with me. i have never got paid to turn a wrench, but worked on many things. Any ideas on how to convince them to give me a shot. I work shift work, but most all maint is straight days,7-3:30, off on holidays and weekends. Asking you guys is kinda like asking family! Thanks

You said it. What have they got to lose? I belive in a setting like yours, you have to give them an out if it doen't work. Once you show them your capable of doing the job there should be no problem.Just my .02 worth

I was thinking about asking them to give me 3 months. If it don't work out, I can look back and say I tried. They have given a couple of others a chance in the past. THEY do ask for experience though. Even when they hire off the street, they have to train them to work on our OLD equipment.
