do you have some names of oversea companies? I don't mind that anything thats 7/7, 14/14, 28/28, etc. I don't mean to bug you or anyone else its just all I know is residential construction and here where im from it came to a complete stop. My wife has a major medical situation looking to start a new career quick.

Your best bet is to search on forums such as rigzone.com or oiltrash.com(i think thats one) but one thing right now that a lot of companies are in dire need of are MWD's, Its a great paying job and you don't have to go overseas to make 6 figures. It is what I am trying to get into during my next phase of movin up in the oil field to hopefully become a consultant someday. Where do you live? Because I know a company called Pathfinder is looking for help right now down south specifically. Go to google and type in pathfinder drilling and you should be able to get their website and hiring information. I beleive they do a 6 week hardcore class session and then you are out in the field 28 on and 28 off with a very healthy car allowance and such. Best of luck and give your wife my prayers

If you have no experience, you really need to pay your dues domestically.
they can hire 5 locals to do worm jobs and still not pay your day rate for the month...

it gets even worse when you get out of the US...
The job I was on here had about 20 locals on site during each shift. nothing happened very quickly either.
either way, those 20 people making a couple hundred per month is cheaper than a couple people making a 1000 per month.
Middle east is bad about putting locals on a 2 and 2 rotation. 2 years on, 2 months off... and paying NOTHING in the process...

Medical depends on where your going. I have to have a medical to maintain my sour gas cert. Mostly a listen to everything and a lung function test.
vaccinations are a bit location dependent and it mostly to make sure your protected against what you will be exposed to.

Hear in Corpus and the surrounding areas they have been advertising alot about jobs in the coil tubing part of the industry. That is a great start. You get to see and learn how different things work such as the chokes, fluids, downhole tools, etc. I worked in the fluids part and now I am in the office

The first one that comes to mind is CTS (Coil Tubing Services). I know another is CJ services. Not sure if they are hiring. I will get you the website of a local radio station called KOUL that advertises the jobs.

Just started with this thread. Like WUnderwood, I'm on the land side. Currently survey coordinator for a big Nat.Gas E&P.
My job is to work with survey companies to make sure the pipelines required to connect new gas wells to interstate lines are in the right place.
Money is good (not as good as a directional driller at $1,200 per day, but pretty darn good) and believe it or not, I'm 90 miles from home.
