Off road Kart DIY plans

has anyone on here ever built an off road go kart? Im looking for a set of plans. I have a 7hp gas engine off a pressure washer sittin here ready to go. it runs great but the pump is bad. I am looking to build something that will be fun to drive on logging roads and trails. Single seater. fairly easy to fab. Cheap and FUN. If anyone has plans i would like to take a look at them if they are in PDF format or similar.

I found www.spidercart.com I was looking at the Tarantula its not exactly what I want but not bad.

Anyone know of any other cool designs that would work well for a 7hp engine?

Since the link didn't work I'm not sure what you are looking at. IMHO 7 hp is going to have a tough time getting out of its own way in an off road situation. If you gear it way down with a countershaft and maybe a torq converter it might at least be able to go down the trails. Don't forget you won't have a reverse gear so if you get stuck you may have problems. Heck my 10 hp Snapper mower had a tough time just hauling me around cutting the grass.

My son's single seat sand buggy has a 954 Honda crotch rocket motor and weighs 800 lbs with either of us in it. It makes a shambles out of the 4 x 4 trails. It has long travel independent a-arm suspension and can go faster on off road trails than a lot of cars can go on the highway. But believe me this stuff is not cheap.

I'd consider something like a 250 cc MC motor and transmission if you want something that will get up and throw dirt.

I think I am going to build a ubuildit.com shredder.

Ok the link works now. These look like fun. Don't misjudge the efforf required to do a good job. I'd use 4130 tubing, it's not much more than mild steel and a lot stronger.

You will need a bigger motor and transmission. I'd use at least a 250 cc MC . Get them on Ebay and make sure you get all the wire harness.

Logskidder....we are desigining a new 2 seater buggy and plan on using a 'Busa'. May even go with the turbo. I already have a transaxel designed with a 2 speed and reverser. Not for sale yet. I'm trying to keep it under 900 pounds rolling with 2 fatties riding. haha

I like the scorpian one, mated with my YFZ450 engine and 5spd tranny, but I'd have to have a major lift and better tires than that!!
