If you have a tomato based can 'o food, when the sauce starts to bubble out of your vent hole in the lid, it's done. Finish opening it up, and stir. Chow down! MRE bombs are the best. EOD was actually called after one was set off in a dumpster when I was at the School of Infantry @ Camp Pendleton. Nobody could figure out what had happened, I was around the corner listening to the school CO and Sergeant Major discussing the matter (and doing a rather poor job of containing the giggles).
