New - Looking to buy
I have a 05 Chevy duramax 4x4 crew and am looking to get an 08 Dodge. I've been reading and the new 6.7 has me a little concerned. The truck will pull a toyhauler, etc. I've even considered switching to a 2 wheel drive.
Love the forum lots of great information and support!
Thanks
Jeff

Are you looking to go with a dually? If not, then keep the dmax, they are good trucks, plus they ride so much smoother than the dodge. Plus they still don't have everything lined out on the 6.7 yet...but they will in time. As far as 2 wheel drive goes, examine the places you go carefully, if you even have a thought that you might need a 4x4 then get the 4x4....If you need it one time, it pays for itself.

Chains are cheap 4x4 is expensive.
And I think some people had issues with the 07.5 6.7L. But overall they seem to be good.
I'm just not big on all the emissions junk!

Two things there(not trying to start a 4X4 war). Chains do help, but the simple inconvience of having to put them on multiple times can just be a burdon (especially in -20 weather), and there have been some times in Wyoming where I am at for work right now where chains AND 4x4 are neededto get you around, not so much because of the snow, but the ice under the snow is what gets ya. And trying to get chains on when you are already stuck is virtually impossible. Also 4X4 will pay for its self in the resale, so what you pay for now, you will be able to get back on re-sale in most parts of the country. For instance, not many considering buying a truck in Colorado would ever even look at a 2wd and dealerships up here will not give you diddly for them.
That is just my opinion, some people will just never have the need for a 4X4 though.

Yeah you're probably right I'm not use to the cold stuff. I was referring to getting just plain old stuck... But I shouldn't be preaching with my lifted 4x4.
