I just a commercial for the new F150. You see a F150 and a new Dodge 1500 Hemi pull up to a traffic light. The Ford is pulling a Mustang :P and the Dodge is pulling either a Challenger or a Cuda 8). The guys in the Ford ask the guy in the Ram if "that thing got HEMI in it??" The light turns green and they both mash it and you see the Ford start to pass the RAM. The guy in the Ram looks all upset.................. :'(

AHHH what Ford tries to do. First it was an airplane with the Powerstroke,now racing HEMI's!!

 

The HEMI would smoke that ford with no problems, you can take that to the bank.

 

A buddy still has a poster from the 70's that shows a montage of top funny car racers and their cars,from that time. At the top and bottom of the page Chrysler is thanking the Ford and GM guys for using the Hemi is their racecars!

OK, guys. Lets have some facts and figures. Hemi vs. F150. Horsepower and torque ratings, gear ratios, etc.

The Hemi advertises 345 HP and 375 lb-ft torque...don't know what RPM's produce the numbers.

The 5.4L Triton 3 valve advertises 300 HP at 5000 RPM's and 365 lb-ft torque at 3750 RPM's.

I believe both trucks come standard with 3.73 rear ends, but don't know for sure.

 

I was in a Friends PSD the other night its an 02 crewcab short box with 5" and an Edge 100hp program in it. Another buddy just bought a 04 Hemi 4 door short box 1500 and the PSD beat the hemi. The PSD would get about 1.5-2 truck lengths off the start and keep it the whole way. Did this several times with the same results. both launching in 4x4

 

With a 100hp chip, I would hope so.

The Hemi's dyno ~290 to the rear wheels dead stock. Don't know torque. Now, put 8psi of chilled boost through it, and you'll bump that number to just shy of 550 rear wheel ponies. ;D

 

I guess your right but it was kind of a big let down for the brand new truck owner. The PSD went 15.70 down the 1320 I just thought the Hemi would best that but I guess not.

 

Tell the owner of the Hemi that if he wants to spank that PSD, or pretty much any other truck around, to give Kenne Bell a call and to order up their Blowzilla kit for the Hemi. ;D Or just throw a set of long tube headers, cat back exhaust, cold air intake, and a throttle body spacer (they work believe it or not) on it, and I'm willing to bet money that he walks all over the PSD.

 

The Hemi is only a 5.7 liter, not a 426 ci. If he wanted to beat the PS, he should have forked out the extra bucks for the Cummins, and a couple tweaks.

By the way how do the weights of the Mustang and the Challenger/Cuda compare to each other?

 

Both are pony cars, close in size. But you can find more big blocks in the Mopar's (pretty sure anyway).

So? The 03 Cobra is only a 281 and the fastest one in the world right now is running high 9's on the stock engine with stock heads and cams. It does have an auto with a solid axle. But the next closest one has the 6 speed with the IRS and is running 10.0's. With nothing more than a new blower unit, a 50 shot of nitrous, cold air intake, and long tube headers with full 3" exhaust. Stock heads and cams and intake manifold.
