New Charger R/T Daytona

Now that my wife is out of school and working I think it is about time she had a car with less than 100k on it. Looked at a New Charger with the R/T package and she fell in love with it. Dont really want to part with 30k so I found a 06 Daytona in Go man Go orange and am going to look at it tomorrow. My question is what do yall that have a hemi powered charger think of it and what kind of real world milage can I expect out of it. We are keeping the Buick because it is such a nice car and because it gets 30mpg highway so the charger would be more of a toy. Thanks in advance.

Well my old man moved into the same car you described a few years ago, and he loves the thing...I'll be honest, its probably the most fun I've had in a 4dr since the first time I found the back seat of my old Buick with my girlfriend. The 350hp just plain goes! Mileage wise I think he sees about 16-18 around town...and I've taken a few road trips with it and seen 23mpg out of it pretty regularly.

If I didn't have a reputation to uphold...I'd be driving one...but I need a truck, so it'll have to wait.

Our Magnum RT gets around 16mpg for around town and 23-25mpg highway. This is with a steady diet of 87 octane (not 89 as recommended).

my wife commutes with hers and gets in the 18 range during the week and on trips as long as i keep it below 80 it will see low to mid 20's. the downside is that it is waaaaay too much fun to put your foot into it way too often. all said i dont think i could get her into anything else (well maybe the new challenger). btw ours is an 07 with the r/t package and everything else they add to it. the heated seats rock when it's chilly out.

We looked at two today bot 06 and both Orange. She has fallen in love with the orange color and so have I. We were going to get a black one with the R/T package but I think we are going to go orange. If it is still there friday on my day off I will drive it.

ours is the steel gray ... kind of a gun metal metallic. the only problem we have is that it looks like a va. state police car. people tend to slow down when we roll up behind them of course a lot of the local deputies think the same thing and just wave as we roll on.

I have effectively the Chrysler 300 version of it, the SRT Design package. It's not really broken in yet with only 4800 miles on it, but it gets about 12.5 in pure city driving. I saw 21 on a highway trip when it was brand new.

The Daytona has the 5.7 with MDS. i have looked at the SRT8 and not having MDS and the higher insurance is the main reason for the Daytona.

I don't know how long you plan on owning the car, but it might be worth going new just to get the lifetime powertrain warranty...

A new one is 37k and the used one is 23k. Thats the biggest reason.

I'd say 14k isn't worth the warranty

they also are not offering the lifetime warranty on the hemi models. we looked at one with the daytona stripe package but decided that it drew too much attention to the car. she has fools in mustangs try to race her all the time as it is. the car is quick and hard to spin off the line with the traction control engaged. w/o it though you wont go any where in a hurry but the tire shop it will smoke-em through top of second into 3rd.
