Neighbors

Well ive lived here for 10 years their son is one of my good friends. BUT the family thinks they own the world or something. First, screw us out of a lot of money on a land deal, Second the "replace some fence i was going to do but left about 50ft in the pasture i cut for grass hay i ended up with a snaped pto shaft and a flat a grand total of 700 dollars. Next the completely cut out a section of fence so get their combine through to a field on the other side of our land.
Now to top it off the burned a 100 yd and as wide as my truck swatch through my year old hay field. Not to mention they owe rent. Anyone else got snip neighbors like that?

I did a couple times in my life. It was not a pleasant experience, but I did make it worth my while . I still get a BIG laugh out of how I ended it. Long storys and this is not the place for this type of advice, but I did live on a farm and raised animals.

I got one that likes to have parties and throw beer bottles and trash in my pastures. After talking with them several times and still getting the same results I acted childish and shot a few coyotes and placed them on the fence line about 20 yards from their house. After they talked to me we came to mutual agreement and I haven’t' had any trash in my pastures for about 4 months now.

While mine ain't like that (I don't live on acreage back home yet), I have had my share of neighbors. A couple called the cops on me without even talking to me first. One for alledgedly speeding (it was the noise of the exhaust) and then another for alledgedly stealing a stop sign and pole (which I found in the middle of the road and was going to return it after my shower). Needless to say, when I come home, I drop the truck in first and let the engine scream while only doing 15 mph. I also invite all of my noisy friends over to party. Had one complain to us about some of our tree clippings hanging off our property onto theirs on trashday. I hate my neighbors back home.

My neighbor mows part of my lawn about 1/2 the time (then again, he mows ever three days). We dont talk much, just mutual politeness. At the same time, I keep an eye on his truck when he parts at his sisters "inlaw house" on the other side of me. My aunt lives on the block behind me. In all, I have three teachers with in a block, two of the "old money" families, and a bunch of elderly people living withing a few blocks of me. Its quiet most of the time.

Not sure if I do or not just yet. Just moved from the city out to a 10 acre plot with a nice little house. Met the neighbors North and South and so far they are great.

Folks across the street might be another story. Out back splitting fire word for the coming winter Sunday and hear obscenities especially the F bomb. Walked back to the front of the house and couldn't tell exactly who it was. Safe to say my hearing is good enough to know which general direction it was coming from and it wasn't North or South.

I'll be devil's advocate here because I'm not clear on what you're saying.

How so? Assuming you sold them some land or you're leasing them some land, did you not agree to the amount of money they would pay for the land? If they paid you what everyone agreed to then they've fulfilled their obligations....meaning you should be mad at yourself and not them. Now, if they haven't paid what everyone agreed to then that's a different story.

Second the "replace some fence i was going to do but left about 50ft in the pasture i cut for grass hay i ended up with a snaped pto shaft and a flat a grand total of 700 dollars.
I think you're saying that they replaced some fence...fence that you were going to replace yourself but they were kind enough to do it for you...but they left some extra materials laying out in the field and you ran over it with you equipment. Now, it's been a while since I cut hay, but I was always taught that you should survey the field for stuff that could likely damage your equipment before starting the cut. Did you not do that? Granted, they should have picked up the extra materials...but you should have watched where you were going too.

Next the completely cut out a section of fence so get their combine through to a field on the other side of our land.
Did they tell you or ask you if they could do this ahead of time? Was there any other way to access the field on the other side of your land? Had you previously agreed to let them use your property to gain access to the other property? Have they repaired the fence or are they going to?

Now to top it off the burned a 100 yd and as wide as my truck swatch through my year old hay field.
Why did they do this? Did you tell them they could? Are they going to reimburse you for the lost hay?

Not to mention they owe rent.
Tell them to pay up or move out.

I got a neighbor who is into racing quads, and thought my hay feild woujld be the perfect place to practise.
First summer sent him a bill for the hay, to which he said" you want me to pay for GRASS???"
The next year I strung a few lines of High tensile wire across the feild at about knee hieght, "to allow for possible grazing..." he tryed to bill me for his front tires and rebuilding his quad after it flipped a few times when he hit it.....
I told him I would take it out of what he owed for the hay from the year before, and we havent had any problem since....
