need a TITANIUM expert...

what is the proper method of drilling/trimming titanium?

i was thinking slow feeds but a lot of pressure. basically, creating a lot of heat to allow the bit to move through the metal; the consequence being if the process stops then the heated area in front of the bit is now hardened, and makes it near impossible to begin again. just wondering if anybody knows.

thanks in advance...

You are correct. High feed pressure low speed. That will allow the heat to be transfered to the chip not the work piece.

lots of coolant(flood the area), ridged setup, slow speed, good tooling(cobalt works good, carbide isn't necessarly an advantage). don't stop the cut.
been some time since i've worked with the material and it does take some trial and error.
