Need Prayers, Best Friend's Dad...

We've all seen how it works for HiD's grandson, now we need you folks' help. The father, Marc Varnum, of my freind, Brooks, went in on Friday to get 4 vertibrae (sp?) fused together, he has thrown his back out at least 2 or 3 times that I know of, and it sounds like this is the make or break it surgery. He has 2 vertibrae that already are weak or had surgery on, so they are fusing a chain of 4 of them together. This will put all the stress the middle 2 used to absorb onto the outside 2. I wouldn't be too worried, except he was gone from school Friday when they took him in, but hasn't been there Monday or Tuesday. I stopped by his house 3 times tonight to see if anyone is around, dog was in the kennel and the lights were off all 3 times. It's got me pretty worried, I hope nothing went wrong. I figure they have to be in the hospital, but he was supposed to be back Mon and Tues. If you folks could keep Marc, his wife Elona, and Brooks in your thoughts and prayers we'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Prayers are streaming to the Lord as you wait. May you find peace and comfort from the sound assurance that your friends will be praying for your friend, his father, his mother, and for YOU, the friend who has faith and compassion enough to ask for assistance.

Well, he was at school today and I got an update. Not sure of all the "technical"stuff, but basically what happened is he had 3 surgeries prior to this one. All of the scar tissue that was built up made it hard to cut in, and the doc said there was a chance of puncturing a spinal fluid sac, and he nicked it just barely. So he sewed it back up, and somehow he had either a lack of fluid or too much fluid to his brain. So he was getting lots of really bad headaches and they put some valve type thing in there to control the fluid and when they went to drain it or fill it (I can't remember) they got an air pocket in there. So apparantly some other things happened, I didn't want to push him into saying much, he and his Mom were up all Monday night to give him pain killer through the IV. So, he is on his back til Friday for sure and they will know on Friday if he will require ANOTHER surgery. They've been through an incredible amount of greif already, please pray that he doesn't require another surgery. He is going to be in bed for at least 2-3 weeks after he gets out of the hospital. Thanks for the prayers folks we can use more now. May God bless you all.
