Somethings not right with that. In your first post you said you have 256, but if you have sticks in all four slots either they are 64 each or your computer is not reading two of the sticks. I don't know if your's is one of these or not but some systems don't automatically read the additional memory, they have to be told it's there. I think a call to Dell with the info about the memory may be in order.

OK , I THINK I have this figured out...
as long as its RDRam, 184 pin it should work regardless of the "PCwhatever" and I need two of whatever I get...
I am going to try and get this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230194995658
That should set me up OK
Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

As long as your PC can handle the 256 chips (Edit: I did a search, you are good to go.) , you are good to go.

And that does look like a great price.

Goto Tigerdirects site and click on the live chat. Type in which system you have and the ram specs. They'll recommend what you need then you can see what their prices are.

A guy can buy memory?!?!? Mine's shot. I'd pay anything to get some back!

Seriously, I've bought memory from crucial.com before. Very good quality and customer service.

Question whats wrong?????

OK, I am confused and

i got a 1 gb memory upgrade consisting of (4) 256MB PC-800-45 RDRamm cards, 184 pin. Purchased off Ebay( used, no warranty)

They specs are identical to what Tiger.com says their upgrade cards are. They are the same manufactorer, Samsung, that Dell uses.
I installed them in the 'puter tonight and teh system wouldnt start.
I got a error message saying "unsupported memory detected in
Rimm1
Rimm2
Rimm3
Rimm4.
Replace unsupported memory with PC-800 40 or faster."

What gives??????
