NEED HELP!! 1997 Chevrolet 1500 spitting and sputtering under load.

I have an issue with a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 2wd. Only when traveling down the road the truck will spit and sputter. It really only does it when under load. I noticed the volt meter drops to around 13.5 when this happens. This could be due to RPM's dropping, but not sure.

I have changed the fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotary button. The problem still exists. I am open to any suggestions. I tried searching on google for a good forum to see if I could solve it myself, but could not find one.

If someone has any suggestions or know of a good place to look, I would greatly appreciate it..

Thanks

get a new fuel pump, get one from the dealer, the napa ones will not supply enough psi to pop the injectors correctly.... I had a 96 so thats how I know, the napa will run, but almost as bad as what you are describing,,,,,, the original is good for about 100 psi iirc.

Just a thought but it could be a weak fuel pump. From my experience the gasser fp either works or doesn't. Have you tried turning off then back on while driving, that worked for me for about a month on my 2000 GM commuter car when the fp was going out.

I agree fuel pump, they should be running at 60psi, as stated go with an AC Delco, it is worth the extra money. Be prepared to spent about $300-350 for a fuel pump module.

Good luck,

Tim
