My New Toy. Yamaha 660 Grizzly

I've been wanting a quad for quite some time now, I finally got around to it and picked one up yesterday. It's a 06 Yamaha 660 Grizzly 4x4. I'm more then pleased w/ it, it just crawls over anything thing with relative ease, it's also one torquey S.O.B. They also tossed in a Warn winch which I will have installed tommorow.

Oh before I forget to mention, I have a 2 acre swamp on my property. I thought it would be cake to get though, I have it in 4x4 L, crawling along then I look down and my boot is submerged in mud, I have mud up to the tail light so i'm stuck like gum on the bottom of someones shoe. My dad & I rock it out by the grace of god, as were pushing it im feathering the gas and I slipped, causing the quad to shoot out of the hole and my father fell straight on his face, he's soaked in mud and about to shove his foot up my rear end . I just got done riding it a few minutes ago and managed to roll it over on me, I shut off the engine and pushed it over. Not one darn scratch, it's a pretty tuff machine. Sorry for the essay long speach, onto the pics.

As you can see in the pictures below I already have another set of tires for it, a set of Swamp Witches. I won't be needing that 4x4 so much now.

Sweet ride Nate

B.A.Ram, are those Highlifter Outlaws? I have a set of 26's for my stock 400 Polaris. Haven't had 'em in the mud yet though.

I also have a stock Polaris 400. Can't get it stuck. I want some of them tires above! These factory Goodyears are for sissies, I just don't have a wad to drop on new ones.

That's because the low range is like 7:1 reduction (or something like that, I believe it is one of the lowest reductions out there). I've followed folks through swamps/sloughs in east Texas that had lifted/jacked up quads with big 'ol tires (several of them have the 29.5" Outlaws) without a problem for the most part with my stock tires (had water up to the racks for the most part). I occassionaly need a push from one of them, but that is it. A stock Polaris with good mud tires will go darn near anywhere.

After my Witches wear out I may pick up a set of these.

Boy, I tell ya what. My back is aching this moarning. I think when I rolled it over I pulled something when I pushed it back up right, mabe I did it to fast. Isn't it weird how much strength you can muster up on the spot when you need it?

We were just out wheeling our ATVs Saturday, one rolled a Grizz, a Polaris 330 was stuck 4 times, Grizz buried once, etc. Winches got a real workout, it had been raining for a couple of days when we went out. Real muck, but we had a blast. We were riding the creek, climbing hills, and getting each other out of mudholes. About the most fun four men can have with no women around!! Mine is an '01 Grizzly 600 with 27" Mudlites, only buried it twice so far. But I am not a real adrenaline junkie either, so I am sure twice is not much to some people. Needless to say, we had a blast.

Yes they are 27" outlaws, they just don't have any air in them. Takes one BAD mudhole to get those tires balled up
