MP3 Player??
The wife wanted one for xmas/birthday. Now that she has it, how do I take music from a cd and put it in the mp3 player?
I don't download music from the net (yet), I/she just wants some of the music from her cd's to be put into the mp3 player.
It's a sansa 1 gig mp3 player if that helps any. Any links that would be useful? Thanks, Kevin

You need to upload the music on to your computer and convert it to MP3 first. Then use the MP3 software and download it on to the player. As a matter of fact, the player might be able to do all that for you. Read the instructions. It might tell ya.

You have to "rip" music from CD's. Rip them with a .mp3 extension
Windows Media Player can do this (at least version 10 can):
Select Tools > Options and then select the "Rip Music" tab. In the dropdown box that says "format" select "mp3".
Then go back and "rip" the songs you want. They will be copied to your machine in the mp3 format.

That model can accept WMA files as well, and can fit more songs in that format.
Windows Media Player lower than version 10 doesn't have MP3 support without a plugin,
if you have XP, then you have Media Player 10.
Windows Media Player will walk you through how to do it,
Make sure you set up the "quality" of the copied music, the player says it will hold 200 songs at 64kbps.
In Windows Media Player, click on tools, then Copy Music tab, there'll be a slider towards the bottom, slide it to the left until 64kbps, this is supposedly the best compromise between size and quality.
I know I couldn't tell the difference between song ripped at 128kbps and 64kbps.
You can also click the box "copy when cd inserted" and it will copy every cd you put in the drive.
it puts all the CD's in the "my music" folder on your computer, unless you change the destination,
you then copy that whole directory to the MP3 player which will show up as "removable drive "G" in "my computer".
(may be a different number, depending on your setup)
I got that same player about a month ago, and got the 512K version for my son for Christmas.
