It'll be a Hemi alright, question is are they the 425HP versions???? Week before last the local news was covering a 4th of July parade and the officer being interviewed made a point of standing next to his brand-spank'n new Charger. The air dam at the bottom of the bumper was entirely different than anything I've seen before. I'm betting it was a 6.1 litre.

I'm not a police officer, but I do drive a Crown Vic for Rescue. I must say that between the dog, the console, the computer, and all the emergency gear, it's nice to have a car that can take it all. Even though the car is full, and there is only room for the dog and I, it is very comfortable, and it runs well too. The one thing I noticed about the article when talking about the plastic "barrier" protecting the driver. To be more specific, it's kevlar.
If this charger is going to compete, it better have lots of room.

They've got a bunch of different cars back home, including 2 heavily modded corvettes. Dont forget the jeep and also a cavalier-yes, a cavalier-and of course all of the other regular cars. Myself, I am glad to see the cops going back to a mopar, and I like the idea of undercover trucks too.

1 car I wish i had kept was my 1994 Chevy Caprice 9C1 with LT1 motor.
These days if cops doesn't get a crown vic, they're likely to get an "Impala"...what cop wants to drive a front wheel drive car?

I work with police all the time, and I can tell you that the ones I know who have driven the Impala hate them for that reason. Top two reasons.
1. Not nearly as much room.
2. Front wheel drive.

when chevy moved away from the rear wheel dirve police cars the crown victoria became to only game in town... Surprise the prica of a crown vic increased by several thousand dollars. The LA County Sheriff found someone to "rebuild" the older chevys for 10K each (new engine, trans, suspension, interior and paint). and they have worked out pretty good. nothing like a new car with over 100K miles on it. Fron't whjeel drives were not an option. alot of the "accidents were front end collisions which disabled the car (hitting curbs). plus the cost of retraining the officers for front wheel driving. I think DC has a solid market waiting for a new Police car. just hope it isn't so fast it becomes a cop killer.
