Moved threads??

Why are so many 3rd Gen related threads being kicked out of here? Seems many that are appropriate for this forum are being moved to the General discussion forum? Wouldn't you think threads talking about getting your new truck, incentives, repairs, etc. belong here? [undecided]

Re:Moved threads??

I kind of though they did as they were primarly 3rd gen related and being that the 3rd gen is still new in the 3/4 and 1 ton versions the guys on the 3rd gen forums would have the best input and not necessarily the guys on the general performance or general whatever categories.

But it is not my forum so I will live with it and move on.

Re:Moved threads??

The threads that were moved were in a forum specific to 3rd generation engine and drivetrain. But their content was not about the engine or drivetrain.

They get moved for two reasons, to un-clutter an area of questions that do not fit the forum profile and to put them in an area where they have the best chance to be answered in regards to their actual content.

Moving these threads is not unique to the 3rd gen forum, it just had a few built up in there that needed to be moved to where they belong.

Re:Moved threads??

Hmm, this isn't the Engine forum, but if you go in and read the threads a lot of them are fairly specific to 3rd Gens, more specific than what you'd find in General Diesel IMO. Not trying to be critical, just seems kinda odd, but I know it's not my call to make

Vaughn

Re:Moved threads??

I also agree with the majority of the others that most of the posts were where they belonged and should not have been moved. We are talking about the Gen 3 no engine and drivetrain aren't we? :

Re:Moved threads??

I agree - the moves don't seem to make sense - I didn't look at every post that was moved, but the ones I did seemed aproriate where they were ??? - have to do a bunch of jumping around now [undecided]

Re:Moved threads??

Well, don't want to give you a hard time Gonzo, but IMMHO (my most humble opinion ) the logic doesn't make sense

The discussions surrounding purchasing a truck, which involve engines, drivetrains, options, interiors, tires, etc. etc. have a lot more to do with a 3rd Gen truck than "General Discussion." There has been a lot of specific 3G stuff moved out of these forums into the General section, which is the last place I'd look for what I was looking for.

Since you can no longer purchase new '02 or older trucks, the same principles you use don't apply here. I'd be willing to bet when the 2nd Gens were available to buy new, discussions about options, dealer experiences, drivetrains, incentives, etc. etc. were accepted in the 2nd Gen forums.

I'm sorry, it seems completely illogical to me, but if discussions about purchasing, dealers, warranty repairs, etc. don't fit in any 3G forums, then why not make one that does?

OK that's my two bits, sorry for being a whiner :'(

Vaughn
Re:Moved threads??

Hmmm, maybe there should be a specific 3rd Gen category for the new truck market/buyers? We already do:

3rd Generation Ram - No Drivetrain -- Moderator: GONZO
Talk about the 2003 and higher Dodge Ram here. Please, no engine or drivetrain discussion.

nuff said. But there is an old rule I learned in the Navy. He who wears the gold, rules. Gonzo wears the gold.

And I do appreciate all the work the administrator and moderators do here to keep this site top-notch!
