I'd say when that little event takes place her grandparent might be alittle more suseptible to the idea of parting with some of their land to their grand daughter and grandson-in-law. Maybe even as a wedding present. I gauranty I wouldnt give up any of my land to my daughter and a boyfriend. My daughter and a husband, you bet.

Well I kinda figured that might be the problem, but I honestly don't think they'll do it even when we get married!! They are pretty dang stubborn......but they must like me cuz my girlfriends mom said that they'd never even agree to sell me anything!!! Well they did.......I just can't afford it!!!!

He did find two of them that had about an acre each, but the house was a wreck and the land wasn't worth a hill of beans. But I'm still gonna keep looking, never know what may POP up!! Thanks for the advice though Geico!!!

First house we bought was in the city, Stayed there for four years and sold it, moved out into the sticks. Got a 1400sqft house with almost two acres for $105,000. Has a full basement/garage. You just have to be patient, I know that is hard to hear, been in your shoes. Wanted that perfect house, like I got now, but then and it was not happening. Wish I had more land, but GM is driving up land prices in our county with the factory.....Soooooo, we might move or buy some land WAAAAYYYYY out next time. Good luck!!!

I could find some land if I wanted to go far enough east in Colorado for pretty cheap....but I'm trying to stay somewhat close to where me and the girlfriend work.

I live 7 miles from where I work now, but for my job I drive about 150 to 300 miles per day....so the cost on fuel and the drive time would KILL me if I were to move far away.

But the crap part is land is SO expensive around my parts I'm not sure I'm gonna find what I want around here. But like I said I guess I keep on looking and hoping!!

Move further out, I have commuted 25-35 minutes one way for 6 years. well worth it. bought a little commuter car. Plus gives you time unwind ad wake up in the morning. I hate town so I guess I could care less if I have things close by. I miss N Idaho, so bad. sucks, but fortunate to have the inlaws lake cabin an hour away to keep my sanity

I too have a 30 minute commute. I have tried that "live close to work" thing. You get home still wound up from work, you get to work half out of it. I have been making the same commute for almost 6 years myself.

Nick... If you drive so much for the company, perhaps you can skip the trip thru the shop and go to the job site from your house. that way your not making unneeded trips to the shop.

Its just as bad in ohio fellers. My mom and dad are trying to sell our 260 acre farm for development, after three other places on our road did the same thing, and the county comissioners won't let it happen. They tried to change the rules (for housing density) in the middle of the game, so now we are locked in a court battle.

The girlfriend is from the grand junction area out there, and she wants to go back. She will have her associates in Criminal Justice in a year, and I will be looking to finish a mechanical engineering degree and trying to find a job. Hate to hear good land and houses are so expensive...

I'd love it if I could just head straight to the job sites, but I usually have to get my estimates out in the morning before I head out. My mornings are usually spent in the office working on estimates and then my afternoons driving around hitting the jobs.

Driving isn't that big of a deal for me, I'm pretty used to it by now, but I don't think my girl friend could handle the drive. It takes her almost an hour to get to work in the morning and over an hour at night due to traffic, and if we move even farther out that'd suck for her!!!

If I could find a decent job and I didn't have split time with my kid ( have him every other week ) then I'd do it in a heartbeat. The hunting is the reason why Cody wants to move up there......he's a HUGE hunter!
