Well, finally made it back home. Rode near 600 miles in the scorching stick your head in the oven heat and got drenched to the point of running down my, er ah nevermind, neck and into my boots just 16 miles from the house. Oh well, that took care of the heat. And I picked up, well not literally, a new ride on the way home. Rode a 2010 Road King and instantly fell in love with it. Gotta go back down and get it Thursday. Coolness.................

Hola , guys, gals, sheeple, old farts and whomever or whatever else answers.

Been copying Scotties stealth mode and just checking in occasionally to see if there are any intelligent happenings here. Never did find any, so quickly checked out again.

Heidi, as you well know, parents are supposed to set the example of how their kids are supposed to grow up. You set the example by riding bike for all those years, so now you pay for that "bad" example. Unfortunately I know the feeling 'cuz my youngest followed my bad example into bike riding. Got a bad scare one day when the police came to my work to let me know my son was in hospital after sliding his 1100 cc bike under a van that cut him off in the rain. Fortunately that particular day he had borrowed my expensive helmet. The helmet and bike was destroyed, but his face although badly cut and bruised, was OK.

WE HAD RAIN! Over the last week have had about 4" of good soaking rain. So far no deluges like we normally get with lots of subsequent runoff and erosion, but just nice soaks.

Been doing some long overdue exterior maintenance on my house. Really dislike scraping, cleaning, sanding, painting etc, particularly on the roof around all the skylights. It's a royal pain in the ....... Hey, where is the smilie for that?

Still working on the possibility of going to China. Things are warming up and it looks like it is a go, but will probably only know next Wednesday for sure when I expect a contract to be offered. Will let y'all know what transpires.

Gone, outa here.
Ciau.

Been like that up here lately too. 75-100 degrees and rain almost ever other day. Lots of personal weather stations up here have been recording temps as high as 105* I dislike humidity. T-storms are in the forecast for the rest of the week.

Welcome to Alabama! Hey, do a guy a favor will ya? You've got our former Governor laying around one of your hospitals up there. He crashed his motorcycle while riding in your state. How about arranging a prolonged stay, at state expense of course.

Found him.....

Darn near within spitting distance of me right now. Apparently it was just an accident so I won't be seeing him. If there was something to nail him on (like a DUI0, AST would've nailed him already.

Any laws up there about being stupid? The way they tell the story on the news here, he laid the bike down trying to avoid a slick spot of gravel. Really? How about he was going to fast and it went down while trying to brake excessively on gravel.

Morning.

It's Wednesday, June 29th.

On this day in 1652 - Massachusetts declared itself an independent commonwealth.

1767 - The British Parliament approved the Townshend Revenue Acts. The acts imposed import duties on glass, lead, paint, paper and tea shipped to America.

1776 - The Virginia constitution was adopted and Patrick Henry was made governor.

1804 - Privates John Collins and Hugh Hall of the Lewis and Clark Expedition were found guilty by a court-martial consisting of members of the Corps of Discovery for getting drunk on duty. Collins received 100 lashes on his back and Hall received 50.

1860 - The first iron-pile lighthouse was completed at Minot’s Ledge, MA.

1950 - U.S. President Harry S. Truman authorized a sea blockade of Korea.

1951 - The United States invited the Soviet Union to the Korean peace talks on a ship in Wonson Harbor.

1953 - The Federal Highway Act authorized the construction of 42,500 miles of freeway from coast to coast.

1966 - The U.S. bombed fuel storage facilities near the North Vietnamese cities of Hanoi and Haiphong.

1972 - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty could constitute "cruel and unusual punishment." The ruling prompted states to revise their capital punishment laws.

1995 - The shuttle Atlantis and the Russian space station Mir docked, forming the largest man-made satellite ever to orbit the Earth.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Drivers kill more deer than hunters.

Coffee's on.
