What's hard pack? And why're you fooling around in your driveway at 50 below? Go sit in your new heater!

Jack Russel's make great squirrel dogs. I bet they'd work great on shrews. If not they make great footballs, fun to kick..

Hardpack is all the snow that you've been too lazy to shovel so far this winter. After you drive on it, it firmly glues itself to the pavement until spring melts it or heavy equipment scrapes it. Or, it gets so cold that it I sticks itself from the pavement due to differential shrinkage (that's a very technical term ) and you hit it with an ice scraper.

It had to be done to make room to park the second heater in the drive close enough to plug it in....

Shorts - not sure what you use for mole traps in Texas. In Alberta a mole trap is a black tube open on one and and with a small hole in the other end. The end with the small hole has a spring loaded steel loop and a trigger. You open up the burrow and plug it with the tube. Supposedly the little bit of light coming thru the small hole bugs the mole. Every once in a while you get a stubborn mole who isn't bothered by the light. For those moles, I put a grape in the hole. An old farmer taught me that and it seems to be like crack for the moles. Always trust old farmers.
Oh yeah, when they trip the trigger, the spring loaded steel loops snaps shut and breaks their little necks or suffocates them. I could never tell which.

I read where you can put chewing gum in the hole......the mole will eat it and it kills him.

If yer really wanting to get rid of them critters, get some Tomcat mole and gopher bait. It's grain pellets laced with zinc phosphide. Makes their little tummies into a phosphene generator. A little dab will do ya. A 1 lb bottle will get hundreds of em.

I hear they have a new one that's even more effective. It's like little soft worms, and the moles eat em right up.

Good info but I think Shorts likes to kill em with a knife or her bare hands.

Evicted?!?! For heaven's sake, now you've gone and done it. All the shrews and moles have left because you evicted them. I'll bet they all went to the new break room. Should have left them here and let the admins lock them in.
