Looks like I'll be switching DTR forums AGAIN....
I had to sell my truck to get out of the monthly payment thanks to poor upper management at the company I work for. It's not gone yet but the paperwork is in process. It really stinks because this was a great truck. Oh well, I'll still be around as I try to find a slightly older truck. I'm thinking of an 03 or 04 but there's a really nice 97 12 valve truck for sale at a good price not far from where I live. I just never really followed the 12 valve forums and don't know a whole lot about them other than they get great mileage which I already knew from when I had a new 1992 CTD. Back then there were really no performance parts though except for some Banks stuff...
If anyone knows of a really nice low mileage CTD close to Va let me know. I'm not stuck on any one model. There's a truck I really want but it's in Washington state and it's just a bit higher than I really need to be spending right now..... Arghh.....

Sorry to hear that man, at least you're sticking around! Sounds like you need to find yourself a company that's managed better and is more concerned about their employees....

I just get scared driving a truck or car once they get that old. Driving them around town doesn't bother me but if I need to pull my trailer 1000 miles that's when I start worrying about things breaking due to age.
That 97 looks really nice though. I could actually get that and a little gas mizer car if I chose to.

Dodge, if it is a stick you are golden, perhaps I might worry if it were a stock auto, but that can be rectified for pretty cheap.
I would trust a second gen non-computer truck with real Dana axles way past what I would a 3rd gen.
Remember, baling wire and duct tape will normally get you home with a 12V.

Sorry to see you go, an asset for sure, you helped me more than once in years past.
I had pretty good luck with the old 2001.5, a good 2nd gen year to consider (finding one reasonably priced with less than 100K of course).

I just sold my 97 and got an 08. I loved that truck. The Trans held up great, put a #6 TST in the injection pump among other things and mileage went down but huge horsepower gains. The 97 12V is the last of the RAW horsepower motors. If you look in Diesel Power Mag, all the 1000+ HP trucks, like MAD DOG's Ford has the 97 12V in it. The only problem I had with it was the crank shaft seal leaked all over the place. I've got buddies that still haul cattle with thier trucks with over 600,000 miles on them. Good luck. ******Ask if the Dowl Pin has been tabbed****** on the 12V. If not Read up on the KDP or Killer Dowl Pin!

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!
Im new to this forum, but I've been reading your posts for a while. They are giving 1st and 2nds away over here in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. The good thing about trucks in wyoming and montana is they generally don't sell em here with out heavy duty drive train, and snow plow package upgrades from the factory. You may want to check out some dealers in the area, I dealt with BIllion Dodge, they were pretty good. There is also a huge dodge dealer in Idaho. I am sure you have heard of them. They have lots of trade-ins. Seems like there are quite a few in craigs also. Good luck. Hope you keep postin!!

Thanks guys. I'm definitely not leaving the site. I originally posted this in the 6.7 section and I was saying goodbye to my 6.7 friends. The 12 valve I am considering has had the dowel pin fixed and it is an auto. I know Timinva so it can be fixed right up if I get it...
I also found an 06 Mega 2wd for a super, super price that could get into...
