Yes cb is only 4 watts by law! If you go over this you will be able to get out farther but you won't be able to hear them unless there cb is modified.
Best to just get a good cb and have it peaked and tuned!

Ya and I don't ever speed or blow black smoke either!

My thought is why spend $150 on a Cobra29 and then pay to have it peaked and tuned if the 150 does it already. Besides the guys I 4wheel with already have them "peaked and tuned and then a bit".

You can get a 29 NW ST WX for ~$130. P&T is ~$25. Get a DM452 power mic (w/ echo) and a REAL antenna. Not a cheap POS antenna. Gets out pretty good.

DON'T get a 25 NW ST WX. They don't have a RF gain switch. That is a must have in my book. Too much background noise without it.

the 150 and 148 both have crap finals they are not built very well compared to the 29. I have seen 10 year old 29's still beating around without any complaints. I personally had a galaxy 95t and the thing lived in the shop. Had a couple of magnums and they seem to hold up well. I'm running a S-9 with a 400watt linear behind it right now.

If you want to keep it simple get a wilson 1000 mag mount with a cobra 29 tuned to about 40- 45 watts and it will last you forever

Thanks, I've got a peaked and tuned 29 already, around here they go for about $160CDN+$50 for the tuning. I usually watch for good deals on E-bay and can get them for about $100 or less. I'm running a roof mounted 6ft fiberfiberglass ant and it works pretty good but there are those times when 4 wheeling when it would be nice to talk to your pals the next ridge over. Some of our club members are looking at getting ham radios in addition to CBs. I like the idea of the 150 if it does CB band as well then you don't need two radios.

I like the 25 for its small size, I reccomend it a lot to new wheelers who want a smaller/compact radio. I myself do like the RF gain though.

The 150 uses Mosfet 2SC1969 Finals....in simpler terms...they're Galaxy Finals.

Any finals that are boosted eventually wont last long....
