Looking for a 2-way Mobile radio - Any Suggestions?

Like the title says, looking for a two-way mobile for my truck. It will be for Fire Department use. Looking for 25 watt and at least 32 channels. Our department uses all Motorolas and Kenwoods right now and they are great radios, however I like to look at all options when I'm going to buy something so I would like some input as to which other brands might be good to look at. Thanks!

VHF.

Also, I've been looking at mounting options. Has anyone used one of the overhead shelfs (the ones that mount where your visors are) as a mounting location? I like my radios up high where I can see the screen with a quick glance.

We used one in a diesel cheby... but it was for a rifle and worked great for storing other stuff. Wrapped in the same material as the headliner you hardly even noticed it was there!

I have several Motorola mobiles that we used to use in our equipment. I believe the are UHF. If it is something you are interested in send me a pm.

I had a kenwood TM-271A, I picked up on ebay from a store that was easy to deal with, had to have the MARS mod done, it worked great and price was good-under $200 shipped NIB, and it had some range, the radios in our fire trucks often times would not be able to reach the repeater so my truck was often used as command on large incidents in our district as it was the only radio that would get out in some of the more remote areas. If you want the name of the retailer let me know and I'll pm you a link.
