That's what I'm planning to convert. Mine has the 6.5L turbo diesel and an 11' service bed. Can't wait to upgrade it to a 5.9L. No question that the solid front axle will support the Cummins.

Rear axle ratio, 4.30 (Only available on diesel models with manual transmission)
Rear axle ratio, 4.77
Rear axle ratio, 5.125 (standard on diesel models with automatic transmission)
BTW, did anyone notice that the Chevy quad cab on ebay that I posted up above is Cummins powered?!?

That chevy is a nice looking truck, and he has done a lot of work on it, but even he admits one of that vechile's biggest flaws is already showing up - Rust. I cannot see spending as much as it is now (9100) for one of these even with the powerplant. Nice rig, but in the end, you cannot get around the (very flawed) Chevy design of the pre-1988 (or 1990, 1-ton) units. The 3500 HD idea for an engine swap make so much more sense in my mind. Just my $.02

Not keeping the gasser. Hopefully the 454 will help with the cost of the truck when I sell it. It was an electric company truck. Had a boom and utility type bed. Gonna try to look at it tomorow.

Its an 82 Silverado with 4 speed tranny. Says "Camper Special 10000 GVW" behind the doors. Noticed the front right shock broke just above the bottom mount. The bed looks pretty bad. Has 3.73 rear according to the glove box. It is beat up so I might get it pretty cheap. Guess I could always get a fiberglass tri 5 body and put it on. Just might have to convert from dually.

Just talked to the owner. He said 4 yrs ago it got hot(he thinks) and quit runnin. Wouldn't start. Looks like some work ahead if I wanna fix it and make a lil money from the 454. Then he told me I could have it for the scrap price. $91 a ton. So If I buy it and it doesn't work out I will be out very lil money.
looks cheap to fix.
He said the clutch was slippin. Was planning on using gutbad anyway. Is there any way to wire engine to bypass the dodge computer completly?

The '92 Cummins only needs 12V to the pump solonoid to turn on the fuel to run. Wiring to the starter is all very basic. Grid heater can be controlled with a momentary switch to activate the relays. The AC, cruise, and the alternator are the only things that uses the computer and you can use the old style regulator or convert to a 1-wire alternator or use the big alternator that Jim Lane wrote up the install for. Bottom line; yes, you can eliminate the Dodge computer.
