A Little Food For Thought.....
Thought this was a pretty interesting article. Click Here
Not just for the Toyota but any small car these days. It is very unusual that I actually buy something (a car expecially) that at least holds its value.

My '76 Harley originally sold for ~$3,000.
It's now worth $10,000.
The diesel VWs get about the same fuel milage without the battery expense/weight.
I'm glad you like your econo-box.
I'll keep my big smokey truck, it's paid for.
I'd rather be a Hammer Than a Nail.

And they really keep there value well (though not quite as high as that). The Jetta TDi I picked up was a 2003 with 40K on the clock. It went out the door for just under 17K (slightly under KBB).
In stop and go traffic those Prius get better then I do, no question. I see about 53 MPG at 65 MPH (if you check out tdiclub.com some of those guys see high 50s on a regular basis, but I cant stand going that slow) on road trips. Lifetime average right now is just under 50 MPG.
And you know what? I still miss my truck every day, though this car is fun to drive.

Swear to God Britt, you quoted my exact words (the, unusual to buy something that holds value part) that I wrote to my Mom when I forwarded that article to her from here. (she has a 2005 Civic Hybrid)
Weird
My Inlaws just got a TDI, they love it.
The Civic isn't all it's cracked up to be (IMO) I drive it every once in a while and see about 43MPG on the display. Don' know how accurate it is, but if it is close, I'm not impressed.

I wonder if they'll be selling them at WalMart soon......

NANSHA, China - Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday rolled out its first made-in-China Camry from a new factory that the Japanese automaker hopes will help it to catch up with rivals in the world's fastest-growing car market.

I sent VW an e-mail encouraging them to run ads extolling their diesel car mpg numbers versus those from Toyota, Honda, hybrids, etc, etc. Haven't heard back yet.
