Linux anyone?

I have been testing some Linux OS and have picked Ubuntu, very easy to configure and use. You can download Wine (application) and use your MS applications if you wish, and it"s all FREE!

my 2nd pick is:

Gentoo for some years... for my servers and workstations.

IMO if you want to run linux look into gentoo, and their installation instructions. You will learn a lot about what makes linux tick, and you will get very stable and very fast computers.

Just my 2c

I run ubuntu on one of my desktops, although I've tried quite a few distros also, Fedora (wasn't real fond of it), Linuxmint (it's just a prettyfied version of ubuntu), DSL (kinda cool if you have an old computer with very little resources, Gentoo (still working on this one, don't have a good internet connection right now so it's on hold.) puppy linux was ok, but not as good as DSL. Overall for the newby Ubuntu rocks, easy to use, but you can learn alot from it if you so desire, Fedora is OK I just didn't really care for it as much.

My wife and I use Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu on my server. I like the ease of use. I used Slackware for years and still like it, but I am constantly messing around and reinstalling. My wife loves Ubuntu compared to windows. I figured she'd hate it, but I put it on her computer without her knowing and she started screaming. I figured she was mad, but she was overly happy about how well it worked and didn't annoy her like windows. Linux is great. For those with less computer experience OS X is a good way to go since it is based on FreeBSD and very stable. Just my two cents.
