linux

I am considering installing linux on one of my PC's. I have never done this before, and I know that there is a few Linux users here. I am considering the Mandrake version as I heard it is easiest to set up, and has similarites to Windows. How hard is this? I am just a hair above your average computer user. I am also curious to know how hard is it to find programs that are compatible. I know that internet explorer is Microsoft, so what do you use for web brousing? Do things look the same? I apprieciate any help/ input.

Re:linux

Mostwanted: I do reply to your post from a computer running Mandrake 9.1, I'm using Mozilla as a browser and have a cable modem.
If this is your first try with Linux I'd go for a Mandrake 9.1 and when the setup asks what kind of computer you want to have take your time and read thorougly. Mandrake is delivered with several thousand applications. Most are free. The quality is good, but take your time to find the stuff right for you.
If your cable modem has an ethernet connector it's very easy to set it up.
If you've got questions just holler ;D
