Knee Problems.....
I just got my MRI results back and I have a fractured lateral tibial plateau.
I've been having knee problems for quite some time now. Last year, tendonitis in my (R), and now this. Back in Aug I was chaining down a backhoe and my (L) knee went pop an I fell and they called it a sprain of both knees. They did x-rays and saw nothing. A few weeks ago we were @ Brooks & Dunn concert and I was walking down a small incline and the knee went pop again and down I went, rolling down the hill. I went back to the Doc, they did and MRI they found I have the above mentioned fracture.
Has anybody had one of these? What do they do, if anything to try and correct it? I go see an Orthopedic surgeon next week sometime. From what I've read, surgery appears to be the only option and they install screws and plates.

Don't sweat the plates and screws too much, they work I have 14 plates and more screws than I care to acknowledge, they beat the heck out of not walking
Be sure you see the best Ortho man possible, specializing in Sports medicine would be ideal of course. They have updated procedures quite a bit over the last few years, give yourself the best shot at getting the latest method out there.
I would give you the name of my doc, but the last job he did on me, paid for his move to a private island somewhere and he has not returned

I'm going to see one of the best ortho/sport med doc in the area. He's actually one of my customers and I feel very confident. The only thing I wasn't too happy to see is the recovery time, up to 3 months. It would be a nice vacation from work!

I've got arthritis in all my joints. The only thing that keeps me going are the pills. I take a non-steroid anti-inflammatory for my arthritis and 1 1/2 vicodin in the morning to get going. Then I have a blood pressure pill as a chaser.

Knees heal faster than shoulders. Be thankful of that. I've had surgery on both. My Knee wasn't as involved as yours sounds like but I was walking again within 5 days. Surprised me but 1.5 years later, the only time it hurts now is when the weather changes.

I have had 4 knee surguries the worst one my patella tendon pulled away and took a golf ball chunk of bone with it and rolled up into my thigh and my kneecap was fractured in 3 places. Knee surgury is a good time your right the rehab is the worst but other than that it is no big deal as long you dont get any infection that the crap you got to worry about.

The rehab does suck but if you follow through with it you'll be better in the end. I had my left knee opened up when I was 17 (23 now) after tearing up a bunch of cartilidge. It still bugs me when cold weather sets in or if i move my knee in the right position.
