Unhappy Just got some bad news

Just got a phone call this morning from my Dad saying that my Grandpa was having some problems happening. I guess he has a leaky valve in his heart and is causing him some major issues. If he walks any distance what so ever he passes out and falls to the ground............being almost 93 that really scares me!!! I guess my Grandma found him out cold in the garden the other day and thought he was gone.......poor grammy!! Yesterday he passed out walking through the parking lot heading into Walmart and took grammy about 10 minutes to get him up and going.

I guess this has happened about 12 times in just this past month and all he wants to do anymore is sleep in his chair. I'm scared that it's about time for him which really sucks.......but at 93 atleast he has lived a long and happy life!!! The doctors said that when he does to much of anything, there is to much blood leaking past that valve and it doesn't get to his brain which is causing him to pass out like he is.

This sucks, I don't want to lose my Grandpa.........he's the only one I have left and I love him to death. I guess it's time for a road trip to go spend sometime with him!!!

Sorry to hear this news Nick. A road trip is definately in order, both for you and him. He has had a good life, and it would not be good to suffer. He is in our prayers.

Sorry about your GF. Mine killed himself a few months back. I've never seen my Dad cry before but he just lost it when he called to tell me. He wasn't even my real GF but he was such a great guy. He had really bad Glaucoma and couldn't see so he couldn't drive or go fishing or anything anymore so I guess he just gave up and grabbed a gun.
My wife's grandfather just died yesterday. He too, was just the nicest person in the world but at 91 years old his body just gave up.
Sorry again for your bad news.

I know how ya feeling. I almost lost my grandpa a couple of months ago. He's the only one I ever got to know. I usually don't let those kinda things get to me but it hit me real hard this time and I just couldn't hold it in. I'll keep him in my prayers. If he's anything like my granddad, he ain't gonna let a little thing like a leaky valve stand in his way.

Thanks guys, it sucks watching your loved ones slowly go......... my other grandpa passed away almost 2 years ago and he was at the same point of just killling himself, I seriously think the only thing that kept him from doing that was the fact that I gave him his first great grandson and that meant the world to him. I honestly think that is what gave him a couple more years, he finally had something in life that meant so much to him that he stuck around for awhile.........

Yeah he is one tough cookie, I don't think he has any original bones or joints in his body left..............he is like a walking science experiment!! I have learned so much from this great man, all the pain and suffering he has endured throughout his life time and I have never heard him ONCE complain about a single thing except not having any hot coffee!!!

All you can do is enjoy the time he has left on this earth. Make sure you tell him how much he means to you. Tomorrow may be too late.

Well at least one good thing has come from our tragedy. Let me start by saying that the grandparents decided about 15 years ago they they were tired of the family and moved to the upper peninsula of Michigan and wouldn't even give out their phone number to any of us. My grandmother is not the nicest person in the world at times and there's some speculation she's part of the reason for the tragedy. For instance, my uncle and his 4 kids all live in Michigan and they wanted to go up and spread his ashes in the lake they lived on because he loved nothing more than to be out on the water fishing. She told them that she had already dumped them in the water so there's no reason to come up. Well, a few months go by after all this and my parents get a letter from her, to me, telling me she's not going to ask me again for my address and if I don't want to give it to her she will just forget that I'm her grandson!! I haven't even heard from her in 15 years!! My mom says that she's just lonely now, which I agree with, and I decided to send her a little letter not even mentioning the past 15 years. I included a couple pictures of my kids and she has turned around 180 degrees. She still won't call but she's written 3 letters since then and even my wife, who has never met her, has written her. It's amazing what grandkids will do to people.. Especially when they look like me!
We're along way from being as close as my wife's family or some of you guys with your families but it's a start and she is my last remaining grandparent. Anyways, that's about all the drama in my life.....

i feel for ya bro. i lost both grandfathers within 6 days. the only rhing i can say is these older people have a will to live like i have never seen. like a cummins with 500k. ( not to be funny) but it seems like they just keep chugging along. keep in close contact with him. i didn't talk to my 1 grandfather within 1 month to his death, that is what bothers me most. keep strong.

That's hard bud. He's had a looooong life and as long as you were part of it ... I'm sure he has been happy. Make the trip and let him know that you appreciate all he's done for you and meant to you. ***Get a picture of you and him together ... it will help later.
I have lost everyone in my family except my brother who turned 50 this month. It is never easy when you know it's coming ... but you know it has to.

Hang in there,
PISTOL
