Winter fronts are fine, I have one. If you get to play with the STRYKER brigade, We are buildin a 2000 acre playground just for you here in Delta/Ft. Greely area...Now one thing you need to look at, they did tell you FT. Wainwright....Not Wainwright....Ones in Fairbanks area and the other is on the Arctic ocean.....Just in case they pulled a fast one.

Lucky you, Alaska is an amazing place. I only got to spend four short years living in Palmer (Mat-Su Valley) while stationed at Elmendorf AFB.......I've been trying to get back North (Elmo or Eielson) for the past two years.

Welcome to Alaska.
Been stationed at Ft Rich for 2 years and lovin it.
Advice for Travlin to Alaska:
Have cardboard ready for covering the whole radiator. Also comes in handy if you have to work under the truck or change a flat tire keeps you out of the mud/snow.
Carry two spare tires for vehicle and trailer or have tire plug repair kit and air compressor.
If you have guns you can cross the border with them as long as you fill out the canadian paperwork and have them approved before you get to the border.
Get the windshield wipers that are fully enshrouded in a thin rubber sleeve.
carry two extra gallons of windshield washer fluid.
Passports are required to go through canada.
snow chains might be recomended.
Good luck and don't feed the bears or moose.

Thanks for the pointers. I do have a few firearms, I see the forms I need to fill out, and I see you need to call a person to get an Authorization to Transport also , I think my AR10 is restricted but that's OK, but I saw something about not being able to have the 30rd mag with it and it has a short barrel. Seems like it would be less of a hassle to get two FFL's to ship them for you and pick them up there. Anyone hear of doing that?

yeah, canada and firearms dont mix too well...good luck with that.
have fun up in AK. I miss it everyday, next thing you know you are gonna be pulling the old wrapping-the-extension-cord-around-the-sideview-mirror trick to save time on pluggin in when you park for the day. just you wait.
fairbanks does get cold, but the summers get warm. too bad they dont last too long.

I have seen that...it is funny. but the old school northern AK trick was unplugging your vehicle in the morning, and wrapping it around the mirror, then unwrapping it when you got to work/school. I always loved how all the parking lots at offices and schools in fairbanks had long aisles of plug ins for their employees and students.
you could do that as well, but my way builds character

Hey Moose10,
How's the Died? I was out there last summer, for the 5th time. Shouldn't have to go back for a long time. Hopefully never.
