I gotta tell you about an experience I had trying to book a hotel for a trip in July.
I called the Sleep Inn in Minot ND after I logged onto their site, checked out the features and the rates.
My wife works with the gov up here so I priced the rooms with the gov rate.
Regular room rate 159.00 Gov rate 89.00.
I asked what was required to obtain the gov rate and the first thing she asks is where am I coming from. As soon as I told her I was from Canada she tells me the gov rate only applies to USA government employees. huh?
Everywhere else we have received the gov rate. So then I asked her if I could get the CAA rate [same as AAA]. Again her answer was no...only AAA gets the rate. Then just for the heck of it I asked her what the regular room rate was. "For Canadian's its 169.00 plus taxes and must be paid in advance." Wow.

I called two hotels in Bismarck and I can get the gov rate at the Radisson for 89.00 and I can get a king 2 room suite at the Country Inn and Suites for 107.00 and it has water slides and a breakfast buffet. Not one of those lame continental kinds with mini muffins either. LOL

It ticks me off when I encounter stuff like this.
Unfortunately they are so busy up here they really don't care about customer service, there are usually ten people behind you looking for your room. We have to book ours a month in advance. Really stinks!!!

Booking rooms has got to be the worst of all things to do. The worst thing I did was use hotels.ca where you pay upfront to them for your room and then arrive to get something you didn't sign up for. You can't change it because you already paid and then moving is out of your own pocket. I have an allergy to smoke rooms, so they stuck me in one for a week. In Grande Prairie you have to book a week ahead to get it in, so moving isn't an option. The other is they jack the rates after you book. That makes for a good pack and leave from the check-in desk.

Morning Gents..

Blake, man you have to stick to just the grunt labour, inspecting gets you hurt! (I can see the hard hat imprint on your skull.) Here I thought you were talking when you should have been listening.

Afternooner all,

Made and sucked down the iced mocha before scotty got in altering the ph00.

Fronty, can you send some rain to Cypress Houston, TX with some extra to send on to Mexstan? Sure could use the rain here.

Hat them AZ dust storms are bad. On I-10 there have been some huge pileups. We lived in Casa Grande for a couple of years. The dust gets into everything.

Blake that scar looks like the one you get when the aliens implant a chip.
Take care of yourself. ATV and coolers can be replace. Head transplants haven't been done yet.

Have a good un and be safe out there.

Scotty, Its only fair. Currently your gov is less screwed up than ours (I know, hard to believe) so you should pay more. Maybe we should put up a US Natl Debt donation bucket at the borders.

Yeah, I'll contribute....something into the bucket.
I got two totally different scenarios from two different cities. A friend of ours here has a brother that lives and works in Minot. He told her that some of the merchants there are wanting to take every dollar they can while our dollar is at or better then par while we come and stimulate the local economy with our hard earned over taxed dollars.

Going another 100 miles and the prices in the stores, the cost per night at a hotel and even fuel prices are lower.

I'll leave it at that so this does not erode the thread to a political topic.

Time to climb up onto the Phoo00 pot.

Wyoming is the least populated state. I have no neighbors for a 1/2 mile, and a traffic jam consist of cows along the highway.

Sounds like the cure for ya!!!

Seems like the least populated states are always the coldest too.

Wow, TV has been amazing tonight watching the tornadoes in live time in Oklahoma city. One of them is heading right for two of our grandsons. Hey, get out of there. They both say they are ready and watching it closely. They are saying there are 1500 people still missing in Joplin. Those are some tough numbers. This has been a wild spring.
