Thanks for the reminder, my 4 year old started asking for Christmas lights on the house a month ago!

I'd best get after it!

Happy Holidays!

I carried a 10.5" Ruger Super Black Hawk into a CCW renewal class. Sure startled a few newbee people when I slid that puppy out. That was in Prescott, AZ about 8-9 years ago.

I wanna say, I remember you saying something like you have a Sig 229 or something like that?
the only reason I can come up with for carrying open is for intimidation or show.
Even the police officers I know will carry atleast one concealed in addition to their open carry.
Nah, it's a Glock 23 .40. The fact that I can open carry in my state is one thing. I normally conceal when I go out, but around the house, I keep it out. I think that anyone casing the joint seeing me and the couple of neighbors that I have around me that open carry will detour any bad stuff. If someone is gonna shoot me, they're gonna do it whether I'm carrying or not. At least the wife can go for the shotgun while I bleed...

I go concealed. If Im out, if Im in, It stays concealed.

two days ago, there was a home invasion. the invader got distracted for a second and the owner drew his concealed firearm and shot the BG twice. He died at the scene.

I live in Virginia, we can Open Carry without a permit, or Concealed Carry with a permit.

I do both, it depends on my mood, where I'm going or who I'm with.

In or around my house, I open carry a .45 Colt Commander, or a 9mm Springfield EMP.

I would not tell another how or what to carry unless they're doing something illegal, or foolish.
That is a personal decision.
The fact that someone exercises their 2nd amedment rights is good enough for me.

Ahhhh "Vermont" carry.

I'd like to see many more states adopt that policy.

The fact that he had to draw from concealment after the bad guys were inside would seem to indicate a review in tactics.

Carrying open can be as dangerous as a Police Officer wearing a bullet proof vest on the outside of his shirt. When ever I see that I think they just painted a bullseye on their forehead.

Still....I would rather carry open than not at all I do prefer the tactical advantage that concealed carry offers as no one knows you have it and you tend to not draw attention as a target.

I do carry open myself about 5% of the time, like in hot weather when wearing another shirt isn't really a good option.

It's going to be open to controversy no matter what.

Normally, when we are inside and relaxing, I have the pistol beside me on the table. If someone gets the jump on me like that, I deserve it.

there was something on the news about the home owner knowing the BG before the incident. I dont think it was a random act.

Oklahoma doesn't have the option of open carry. Hopefully they will, but its just not my thing.

and Christmas time is a good time to get distracted and let your guard down.
