Industrial 540 Ford Tractor
Can anyone tell me if there is a bypass on the power steering of a 540 industrial ford? The seal keeps blowing out when the steering wheel gets turned the the max right or left. Its the seal on the gear box. Thanks.

I have no experience with that tractor, but what I can tell you with absolute surety is that any hydraulic system has to have a bypass. Does it have a filter on the power steering system?

Ok, this tractor has a gearbox? If so then it probably has an internal bypass, or the shaft seals are smoked. The seal that is blowing out is probably just a dust seal, there are a series of high pressure seals on the input and sector shaft seals under the dust seal. Looks like it may be time for a steering box overhaul.
