Remember that the skins will be wrong side out. They get inverted when a snake peels them.
It's probably just a rat snake in search of a meal. Definitely a sign of a rodent population in there somewhere

I think you'll find that the reason the skin was inside wasn't due to the location of the mice as much as it was mother nature talking to the snake. One to two weeks before most snakes shed their skin the covering on their eyes starts to become opaque, causing them to be blind until they shed.
