We will not be Treated like Criminals

We are opposed to the full-body backscatter x-ray airport scanners on grounds of health and privacy. We do not consent to strip searches, virtual or otherwise. We do not wish to be guinea pigs for new, and possibly dangerous, technology. We are not criminals. We are your customers. We will not beg the government anymore. We will simply stop flying until the porno-scanners are history.

We will not be abused simply for the privilege of purchasing your services. We demand the airlines make their maximum lobbying effort in support of our, your customers’, rights and liberties. We are eager to fly again, but only when this invasive threat has been contained.

This scanner technology has now spilled out of the airports and into the streets. Mobile scan machines may be taking x-rays of you on the way to work or while you drive out of town on vacation. Your kids may be getting x-rayed on the bus. Soon, dangerous backscatter x-ray technology may be everywhere. Resist! Not just passively, but actively with your voice, your vote, your feet and your dollars. Our future, and that of our children, is at stake.

Im kinda weird but I travel a lot and I really dont mind getting pat searched when it happens. I think I will avoid the x-ray until the long term damage can be figured out.

If.......I could be gaurenteed the images would be dumped if I'm not packing anything dangerous, I wouldn't mind. IMHO, allot of the problems with the pat down might be eased with the use of a Kubotan rather than a hand.

As I posted recently in another thread, I do not agree with the way big sis is going about airport security and still think that the Israeli method is probably the best in the world. Doubt that it will be allowed in the US and Canada because profiling (gasp!) is a big part of it. The wimpy, overly correct politicians will not allow that as they are too afraid of CAIR and similar organizations.

I don't mind it at all. I use to hop 12 different connecting flights every 2 weeks for 4 years. Did a lot of flying. Big deal if someone in a closed room see's your woo woo. There not gonna remember it.....they see thousands of people everyday. I would rather get on a plane knowing that, ya...someone seen my you know what, but at least know one has an underwear bomb. Been in a locker room a thousand times after practice....Don't see the big deal here really.

If it will save lives, absolutely. No ones more affraid to fly than my mother....she would be the first to show her (forgive me ma) hush puppies if it meant having a safe flight.

Ya know, I understand your frustration. I really do feel the same way you do. I just don't think this country is gonna miraculously grow a set of b*lls and stand up for whats right.....and put our foot down. We've been fighting things like this for years and don't seem to get anywhere. Flag issues, border issues, school issues, etc……now that doesn’t mean we should stop fighting and believing in what’s right, but I’m just saying. Until we remove certain people from certain positions, and start kicken some ( ) and really mean it, not much will change.

LoL! Yeah, I was sticking my neck out but I think you know me enough to understand that I do not agree totally with what they are doing.

However, I have been pulled more times than I can remember to be patted since 9-11 (because of my ugly face I guess) and I dont mind. Funny thing is, I used to routinely pack a gun onboard when I was doing prisoner transports.

The terrorists have not won in America Who has won are the “Politically correct” people that forbid the TSA and other agencies from doing the job right. This bit of patting down an equal number of 80yo grandmothers for an equal amount of suspicious people to prevent possible racial or other profiling is BS.

I don't mind a little pat down either. Esspecially if it's from a pretty girl..... Of course I'm hardly ever lucky enough for that one. But it's been my experience that the searches by the TSA at least up here are a joke.......

Perhaps that is where you and I are jaded. After the first 10 or 1000 pat searches or strip searches we don’t even think about body---just weapons. Also, --- Don’t know if you guys still search women but we didn’t usually have women Officers on shift so we had to search them. We always did it in front of the female dispatch or a nurse but once again, we only cared about weapons. If we found drugs or other weirder things,--so be it. The main thing is, civilians just think the people doing the searches are perverts. They don’t realize that we didn’t (don’t) want to do the searches but have to for the security of ourselves, the institution, the aircraft or whatever.

I don't care about the pat down ... I don't think anyone is getting their jollies by sifting thru my junk ... but it would make more sense to me if they actually saw a reason to pat me down ... I'm all for profiling. I condone it .. I encourage it ... and if I fit any of the suspect demographics, I'd be just fine because it would mean that they were finding the happy medium between safety and freedom.

Listening to the local radio yesterday, Michael Berry posed the scenario about what the next TSA step would be when someone packs their **** with bomb making material and gets on a plane.

They don't even need to set it off ... just grab a flight attendant and say "follow me into the rest room because I want to show you something".
Cavity searches will become the new norm ... and Pistol will never fly again.

I agree with Bark.

The bottom line should be that they can do anything they want; x-rays, pat-downs and complete searches including any cavity they want. If someone objects to this, then don't fly. It's real simple. THAT is the freedom we have in this country; the freedom to choose. No one is forcing you to fly. And if someone IS forcing you to fly, (for business for example), maybe it's time you took a good look at what you want to do for a living and who you want to work for, which is BTW, another CHOICE you can make.
