I saw something sad the other day, was in a gas station in a bad part of town and this guy who definitely could not afford them, put $143.00 worth the lottery tickets on his credit card...

For sure it's an idiot tax. I haven't bought a ticket in a very long time. I won in the Pa. lottery in 1984 with 4 or 5 correct numbers, unfortunately so did a bunch of other people. I won $17.50! = enough to fill my gas tank! Rich

No tax on lottery winnings UP HERE...my mother won big two yrs ago right before Christmas. My inlaws...distant ones have won in the millions twice over the past decade. Me, I have netted a loss of about 100.00 in as many years.
I did buy a ticket in IL this past week since they were claiming a 111 million grand prize. From what I am told I can claim back the tax and if I did win in the states, I would offer up the tax to a good charity in the USA as opposed to pocketing it.
